Joe Rogan was in talks to have Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris on his JRE podcast in the days leading up to the election. However, the interview fell through with various explanations being given depending on who you ask. Thankfully, Rogan himself has clarified what was the main reason behind this on episode #2223 of the JRE podcast featuring Elon Musk.
“They [the Kamala Harris team] wanted to limit it to an hour exactly. But I was thinking of doing it initially before Trump came here. First of all, when they found out that there was a rumor, I never announced that Trump was coming. What I was going to do was just release it the way I like to do things. I don’t like to tell anybody who’s coming on,” Rogan told Musk.
The UFC color commentator revealed that while he had been wanting to have Harris on for a long time, her team reached out to him after Donald Trump‘s JRE podcast episode aired. However, the one condition they put on the interview was a deal-breaker for Rogan, who wanted to have a more in-depth interview with the sitting VP.

“Her campaign contacted us and said ‘Would Joe have her on?’ I said yes and they said ‘She wants you to fly to where she is and she’s only willing to do 45 minutes only. And I was like I don’t know… I’m like maybe I can get a sense… maybe I could coax her into doing more time.”, Rogan explained.
“I just wanted to talk to her. I don’t give a f**k what we talk about. We [could] talk about recipes, I don’t give a s**t. Just talk to me… But then when Trump came and did the three hours I was like ‘You know what, it has to be like this,'” the 57-year-old added.

To be fair, Rogan totally would have talked about ‘anything’ with Harris, no matter the topic. However, some feel that the sitting Vice President’s time may have been better spent campaigning in swing states that will determine the results, instead of someone who has thrown his weight behind Trump publicly.

Joe Rogan officially endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States on the eve of the U.S. presidential election. Rogan posted the entire Elon Musk episode on X and wrote, “The great and powerful @elonmusk. If it wasn’t for him we’d be fucked. He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you’ll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way. For the record, yes, that’s an endorsement of Trump. Enjoy the podcast.”

And Trump, speaking at a rally, thanked the UFC’s perennial voice for this endorsement, calling Rogan “the biggest there is. Somebody said the biggest beyond anybody in a long time.” While it is unknown how much of an effect the endorsement would have on Trump’s chances, the podcast episode he did certainly helped the former President reach out to his core constituency- young male demography.
