Following his fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 263, it seems Nate Diaz is eager to make another appearance inside the UFC octagon. The Stockton native has been campaigning for a fight, even calling out number one lightweight contender Dustin Poirier for a showdown earlier this month.
And although the opponent and date for the fight might not be in place, Diaz recently took to Instagram to announce his return to the octagon in December.
Interestingly enough, in a recent appearance on his podcast, UFC legend Chael Sonnen made the following statement, claiming to know who Nate Diaz’s next opponent is.

“I just talked to Nate Diaz. I know who he’s going to be fighting in December. Would you guys like to know? Are you happy you came over here? You’re fight fans, you want to know who Nate Diaz is going to fight in December? His opponent will be… *inaudible*. I hope you enjoy it. What? The audio’s out? Say it again? I said that Nate Diaz in December is going to be fighting * inaudible*. And I really hope you guys enjoy it. That’s probably about as big as it gets. When you think of Nate Diaz standing across *inaudible*, I think it’s just going to be wonderful.”

Although many people might see this as a cruel prank by Sonnen, who is privy to a lot of information regarding upcoming fights, others believe a careful look at Sonnen’s lip movement in the video points to Tony Ferguson. A few other fans believe it could also be Welterweight Veteran Matt Brown.
Both matchups seem like great options for the younger Diaz. However, a fight with fan-favorite Tony Ferguson would certainly be one for the ages.
