Does Rose Namajunas really deserve another title shot, or is Dana White right to hold back?

Rose Namajunas delivered yet another impressive performance in the flyweight division when she took on Tracy Cortez at UFC Fight Night. The 32-year-old not only managed her distance but also used her wrestling skills to her advantage. Her speed across the Octagon and her ability to land punches consistently proved too much to handle for Cortez.

With her latest victory, the former strawweight champion has won her second fight in the division. Namajunas seems to be in a hurry at her new division and is eyeing the title next. However, a UFC insider feels she needs to do a bit more to lay her hands on the title.

While speaking at her post-fight interview, ‘Thug’ showed her willingness to fight for the title. After all, she is currently undefeated in her new division and is also a former champion. Her recent performances have been nothing short of impressive. However, Mike Born reckons she might have to wait a bit longer. “Rose Namajunas showed Tracy Cortez she wasn’t quite ready for her level of competition on Saturday,” the MMA Analyst said.

Namajunas was all set to take on Maycee Barber in her last fight. However, Barber pulled out of her clash in the final stages, forcing the UFC to rope in Cortez at the last moment. While Born did credit the 32-year-old for her victory, he also said that Namajunas wouldn’t possibly get a title shot next.“She is always in a good position given her history in the sport given her name value and fan base. I think right now she is definitely flirting with a title shot, but you look at the division. I just don’t see how it’s possibly next,” Born remarked.

Talking about the flyweight division, the champion Alexa Grasso is waiting for her trilogy fight with Valentina Shevchenko. However, it all depends on whether Shevchenko turns up for the fight. Some other fighters waiting in the ranks are Manon Fiorot who has handed ‘Thug’ her only defeat in her new division.
