Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub recently chimed in on the betting scandal that rocked the UFC during the later stages of 2022. The scandal involving a coach and former fighter, James Krause, created big news. It was reported that there were suspicious bets made in a fight involving Krause’s fighter. Brendan Schaub on his channel, ‘Thiccc Boy’, claimed that the scandal ran deeper than what many assumed.
The stand-up comedian declared he was friends with individuals who were close to the crux of the matter. He further said that the story would get more interesting as it got revealed.

Also, because of the circumstances, UFC Flyweight Jeff Molina was recently suspended because of his association with James Krause. Schaub, while commending Molina as a ‘savage’, maintained the story went really deep yet again. “He’s a savage, number 14 in the world for a reason. Undefeated in the UFC. But the story’s gonna keep coming out. It gets deep.” expressed the 39-year-old former Heavyweight.

The UFC found itself embroiled in a controversy when unusual betting activities were first reported surrounding a fight between Shayilan Nuerdanbieke and Darrick Minner. As the odds of Nuerdanbieke winning by knockout/TKO shifted drastically, followed by his eventual win in the first round via elbows; it created suspicions about unethical betting activities. Later on, it was revealed that Minner, who trains under James Krause, had an undisclosed knee injury before the fight.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission eventually suspended Darrick Minner and James Krause; with the UFC, also making an announcement that any fighter involved with Krause would not be allowed to fight in the promotion. A former UFC fighter, Krause is well known for betting on fights; surprisingly, even in the fights he corners. On an episode of MMA hour with Ariel Helwani, he even admitted to having made more money from betting than he does from coaching.
