Jon Jones, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, made a stunning comeback after a three-year hiatus at UFC 285 in March. He stepped up to the heavyweight division and secured a remarkable victory over Ciryl Gane in the opening round, solidifying his status as one of the most impressive fighters in the history of the sport.

Not long after winning the title, the renowned ‘Jonny Bones’ called out heavyweight royalty Stipe Miocic for a fight that was slated to take place in July. However, Jones went on to claim that Miocic was avoiding him, which was promptly dismissed by UFC president, Dana White. Recently, there was an upsetting development in the fight’s plans, with White confirming that the fight is still not certain as Jones “disappeared” after the title win, causing a delay in the plan.

White said, “Jon Jones came out, made quick work, and poof- Disappeared”.

In response, Miocic took the opportunity to hit back at the newly crowned heavyweight champion. And recently, Jon Jones’ former opponent and UFC star Chael Sonnen addressed the problem. But he was unable to pinpoint the precise cause of the holdup, which has since caused a lot of uncertainty.

Chael Sonnen can’t understand why Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic isn’t happening

Chael Sonnen expressed his disappointment in the delay of the Jones vs. Miocic fight in his recent YouTube video. However, he didn’t stop there. Upon addressing the issue, the 45-year-old cited one of his own examples of how fights worked.

He said, “I fought Shogun[Maurício Rua] in the main event, I fought Lyoto Machida in the Madison Square Garden. To this day, I have never accepted a fight with either one of those guys.”

He further added, “I have never been offered a fight. I was never offered a fight with Shogun, I was never offered a fight with Machida. Ariel Helwani broke one of those stories and UFC tonight broke the other one. I read it and showed up. So, what part of this business is changed? If we got the company, we got the date, we got the venue, we are the fans… And both athletes have said yes, multiple times. Explain to me, how, with the pieces that I just gave you, how can we also say that we don’t have a fight?”
