Gilbert Burns is preparing for his fight against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 in the welterweight division. There’s a lot on the line for both ranked fighters, as the winner might get a title shot. Currently, Kamaru Usman holds the 170lbs division championship belt.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian ‘Durinho’ has already made news with his rundown of the UFC 272 main event bout between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. Burns isn’t a big fan of Covington and he made it clear in a recent interview.

Burns discussed the Covington v Masvidal fight and gave out his verdict on the same. He admitted his dislike of ‘Chaos’ but believed Masvidal went in there unprepared.
He told journalist Helen Yee, “A little bit I think, the lack of preparation with Masvidal was real. Everyone could see he wasn’t… he wasn’t in there I think. I bet on Masvidal, like, I don’t like Colby so I want Masvidal to win.”
Despite calling it a “good performance,” ‘Durinho’ didn’t look impressed with his pounding ability and called Covington inefficient. To back his claim, Burns pointed out that the top-ranked welterweight fighter couldn’t even cut his opponent open.

“Colby went there, and he did what he did. You know like, a lot of wrestling, a lot of… you know he has a good pace. I don’t think he is that crazy cardio king… but he has a good cardio. And… yeah but not a lot of damage and not efficient ground and pound… hurting… he don’t even cut the guy. He just wrestles so… not impressed, but yeah… but a good performance.”
Masvidal admits he couldn’t wrestle Colby Covington
The friends turned foes got the perfect opportunity to settle scores in the Octagon. And after five hard-fought rounds, the verdict came in favor of ‘Chaos’. Despite heartily hating his former training partner, ‘Gamebred’ admitted to being the lesser wrestler of the two.

In the post-fight press conference, Masvidal repeatedly talked about being flat at wrestling and not defending the takedowns properly. He even confessed that he regrets not learning to wrestle during college.

He said, “If I could’ve done it all over again, I would’ve gone to college and wrestle my a*s off and got my grades up to be able to stuff all these guys up, then just keep it on the feet. I was just flat on the wrestling, brother.”
“He’s [Colby Covington] a b***h, but that b***h could wrestle though,” he responded to a later question.
