The head coach of Colby Covington, Daniel Valverde, revealed the UFC star started breaking a sweat in training sessions ahead of his championship match against Leon Edwards. Notably, UFC president Dana White awarded the American fighter the title shot shortly after the closure of UFC 286. The middleweight champion, while basking in his first title defense, expressed his dissatisfaction over how the UFC head honcho entrusted ‘Chaos’ with the opportunity to challenge him for the UFC gold. While skepticism surrounded the declaration of the forthcoming fight, the camp of the Clovis native started the arrangements on full throttle to take the belt home.

Daniel Valverde, who maintains and instructs the MMA Master gym associates, disclosed the details to Alvaro Colmenero. Also, he put faith in the UFC lynchpin’s statement that endowed his disciple with the shot at capturing the elusive title. Markedly, the 35-year-old fighter failed in both previous endeavors to claim the undisputed title against Kamaru Usman while he once held the interim belt.

Thus, he said, “Dana White already said yes. He called Colby, and he said yes. I don’t think Dana or UFC are going to lie like that. I think the fight is going to happen. We are already training for Leon.”

Markedly, the welterweight fighter switched gyms when he left the American Top Team after he ran into controversies with fellow training partners and especially Jorge Masvidal. Subsequently, he knocked on the door of Valverde, who is a high-level Judo practitioner.

He once told the media, “That guy’s [Daniel Valverde] the best judo and Jiu-Jitsu player in the world. I’ll put him up against anybody in the world in Jiu-Jitsu. I’ll put a hundred grand on it. He’ll go against any Jiu-Jitsu guy and I guarantee he smokes him.”

Colby Covington is coming off an impressive win against friend-turned-foe Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. While he is scheduled to face ‘Rocky’, the details of the awaited fight are still being chalked out.
