UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes, is a roadblock for those who aspire to hold the title. Her fights against Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko, Ronda Rousey, and Cris Cyborg are a testament to the same.
The champion faced Shevchenko twice; first at UFC 196, and later at UFC 215. Notably, ‘The Lioness’ managed to win both the bouts. Now, many fans want to see both the fighters clash again in a trilogy fight. However, the bout is unlikely to take place.

Dana White is not really interested in another Nunes-Shevchenko bout. The 22-3-0 record holder is one of the very few fighters who was able to push Nunes to her limits. However, White feels that it is better if both rule their respective divisions. Nunes currently dominates the bantamweight, whereas Shevchenko dominates the flyweight division.
Speaking of a possible trilogy fight between both the fighters, White said (h/t MMA fighting), “I don’t know if that fight needs to happen. I don’t know. I’ve talked about it a lot. You know they’re both incredible in their own weight classes. They already fought twice. Why do it again?”
He further added, “I would imagine if they wanted to do it bad enough and the fans wanted it bad enough, I would do it but I don’t see much point in it.”
However, if fans and both the fighters really push for this match, it might just happen. Although, let’s not forget, both are champions and might be able to sustain their title for a long time if they stick to their respective divisions.

Should a third fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko happen?
Many say Shevchenko was close to defeating Nunes during their second bout. Even though the Brazilian fighter won the bout, Shevchenko’s performance was indeed incredible and much better, as compared to their first fight. Hence, if a third match were to happen, there is a possibility that her skills might help her edge past her opponent.
