On the 24th of August, Dave Schmulenson, popularly known as ‘The Schmo’, had a brief talk with the UFC bantamweight champion. With his fight right around the corner, the conversation was incomplete without a few words about UFC 306. Reflecting on the hype train that the UFC head honcho is building for the event, Schmulenson asked O’Malley if he also believed that the event will be the “greatest live sporting event in the history of mankind.”
9 weeks before the scheduled date for UFC 306, the UFC CEO announced the cards for the event. Previously, White promised that UFC Noche would be a tribute to the fighters of Mexico and the fights would tell a story of the country’s history. After all, the date is set for the Mexican Independence Day. But O’Malley is unfazed by the hype.
‘Suga’ has fought in many different locations, against many different fighters. Even if the event is going to be held inside a new venue, he would still have to fight inside an Octagon with canvas flooring. Judging by that, O’Malley claimed, “I mean, for me, it’s gonna be just another fight. I don’t expect it to feel that… I don’t expect it to be any different.”
Suga’ continued, “I fought in Abu Dhabi, Miami, Boston, I fought at T-Mobile, I fought here, I fought there, I don’t… For me, the fighter, walking out, it’s going to be electric as always. To the fans, yeah, it’ll probably be very unique experience. But you know, I got a job going there, knock Merab out, you know. Tunnel vision on that!”

Despite White hyping up the fights for UFC Noche, O’Malley commented that he doesn’t care about the fighters. Well, this indeed was a reference to the UFC CEO lashing out at Dvalishvili for revealing his injury on social media. Let’s see what ‘Suga’ had to say!

‘Suga’ reveals the truth behind the UFC CEO’s fire against Merab Dvalishvili
White has invested a humongous amount of money at UFC Sphere. Needless to say, he expects the fighters to entertain the fighting community to a great extent. With a massive gate amount and skyrocketing ticket prices for the event, fight fans have speculated about the business-minded approach of the UFC CEO. But when White lashed out at ‘The Machine’ for exposing his cut on social media, O’Malley had no choice but to give his opinion.
In a conversation with Michael Bisping on his YouTube channel, ‘Suga’ weighed in on White’s point of view. He said, “It’s the fact that it risks the potential of the fight, that’s what is the issue there, with maybe the commission or something like that not letting the fight happen. But Dana doesn’t actually care if Merab got cut. Merab’s about to get cut from the UFC after this fight, let alone have a little eyebrow cut. That’s the last cut he needs to worry about.”

After all, the UFC head honcho doesn’t want the main event for a highly anticipated event to fall out in pieces. Managing the fight business is indeed a tough job and White has been doing pretty good work. Even with UFC Noche, White hasn’t backed off from promoting the event in every possible way. Regardless, things will be interesting just for the fight fans. For the fighters, it’s going to be nothing but yet another fight in their career.
