Is Conor McGregor's generosity enough to overshadow his self-destructive lifestyle and career setbacks?

Despite all the shenanigans that Conor McGregor finds himself embroiled in, the Irishman often proves that he also has a heart of gold. Known for making several donations to wise causes in the past, the former UFC double champion has now decided to take care of one of his Bare Knuckle FC fighters, Khanakov Bovar, by helping him pay his medical bills.

Khanakov overpowered Ruben Warr in Saturday’s action-packed co-main event, winning by unanimous decision in their lightweight bout. With this win, the Ukrainian fighter improved his bare-knuckle boxing record to 5-3, while Warr, a Louisville, KY native, is now 2-1 with one NC in his BKFC career. But while he shined on the Octagon, he did reveal one dark truth after the fight.

Taking to his Instagram, Bovar revealed that while he did win the fight, the Conor McGregor-owned promotion highly underpaid the fighter despite him getting his ribs broken in the bout. If that isn’t heartbreaking enough, ‘The Gladiator’ further revealed that he is selling a medal of his to earn some money. However, the money isn’t for him, but to help the soldiers on the battlefront of Ukraine. As he wrote in the caption, “I broke my ribs and fought with character for all of us 5 rounds! Spirit of Ukraine 🇺🇦 I didn’t earn a lot of money in this fight, but there is a medal I want to sell.”

He further revealed in another post that all the money for his preparation for the fight against Warr was paid for by a car auto parts and modification company called ‘Boost Mode.’ This truly inspired Conor McGregor, who reposted it on his Instagram story while urging $411 million worth Bare Knuckle FC to take care of their fighter. He wrote, “Incredible! BareknuckleFC Look after this man!”

BKFC Fight Night Los Angeles was a sold-out event at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. So for the promotion to underpay their fighters to such an extent surely must’ve embarrassed the co-owner of the promotion. But while he is now helping out his fighter by lending an economical hand, his own UFC career seems to have reached its fag end. Or, as Joe Rogan recently said, Conor McGregor ‘self-destructed.’ But why did he say that? Let’s find out.

Joe Rogan drops harsh verdict on Conor McGregor

Is Conor McGregor's generosity enough to overshadow his self-destructive lifestyle and career setbacks?

Have an interesting take?

What are the similarities between Jon Jones and Conor McGregor? Both fighters made stunning debuts, and it took them time to reach the pinnacle of the sport that every young athlete wishes for. However, one major fact that differentiates them is the ability to bounce back. On JRE #2232, Joe Rogan revealed that while ‘Bones’ knows the technique to bounce back from setbacks, the same cannot be said about the Irishman, who has a “self-destructive” persona, as per the UFC commentator.

Blaming his lavish lifestyle full of partying and alcoholism, all this has taken a toll on McGregor’s career and legacy as per the JRE host. He said, “You know, in a lot of ways, because of money. I mean, he took that fight with Floyd Mayweather, made a ton of money off that, and then took a long time before he came back to MMA. It’s just not been the same guy since, and I think that’s just… It’s money; it’s a lot of partying.”

It is because of this that while Jon Jones successfully defended his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, McGregor is finding it difficult to even make a comeback to the Octagon. Not only that, but other fighters are now hesitant about fighting ‘The Notorious’ as they believe that he will pull out of it at the last moment. His prospective opponent Michael Chandler called him out, although ‘Iron’ fought and lost against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309. But he, too, is angling for other fights and not focusing on just McGregor.

What do you think? Is it the end for Conor McGregor? Let us know in the comments.
