UFC star Cynthia Calvillo strikes off Texas as her future fighting destination as the results of the recently concluded fight card flabbergasted her. The UFC’s San Antonio event produced some controversial decisions that divided the fans. The promotion has been at the epicenter of recent controversial decisions that sparked a debate among fans and fighters alike. Likewise, the main event between Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen on March 25 also produced a split decision and ignited scathing reactions. The UFC president Dana White also joined the bandwagon as he couldn’t wrap his head around the scorecard. Therefore, the flyweight fighter believes she is better off not fighting under Texas jurisdiction.
Notably, the 35-year-old expressed her opinions of UFC on ESPN 41 in an exclusive interview with the Middle Easy. While she contended the fight involving flyweights Maycee Barber and Andrea Lee was incorrectly decided, she also clarified her intention to not fight in Texas.

In the conversation, the San Jose native, who is coming off a split decision loss from her last fight, specified she didn’t want the replay of the same. Besides, the American fighter revealed she couldn’t make sense of the main event’s split decision.
Thus, she said, “I don’t want to fight in Texas. I was like this sh*t was crazy. Like even like the split between Chito and Sandhagen. I was like, what was going on here?”
“No, I don’t want to fight for them. You know, I’ve gotten edged out in a couple of splits before. I definitely don’t want to go there,” she added later on.
Earlier in the conversation, the 9-5-1 record holder opined the fight between Maycee Barber and Andrea Lee was incredible. But she held the victor was Andrea Lee, contrary to the judges’ scores.
Calvillo believes Andrea Lee won the fight instead of Maycee Barber
The American Kickboxing Academy representative heaped praise on Maycee Barber for her hard-hitting and no-quit attitude.
However, she argued, “But I think Andrea Lee won that fight. That sh*t was crazy. I heard 30-27 I was like, are you kidding me? I was like, nah, there’s no way, Andrea Lee won that fight.”
Calvillo, who is on a 4-loss streak, will endeavor to turn her fortunes around as she faces Lupita Godinez on April 8, 2023, at UFC 287.
