Retired UFC star Ben Askren recently ran into some trouble on social media with some unwelcome comments about his wife. While the former Bellator welterweight champion was trying to compliment his wife for being a good mother, many took his comments as an unintentional dig at her looks. Askren defended the fort rather strongly on Twitter and the whole incident is now a laughing matter.

Askren and his wife Amy Askren seem to be handling the issue rather well. The couple simply laughed at Askren’s poor choice of words. In a recent video shared by the 38-year-old, we see the couple having another laugh at the expense of Askren’s poor choice of words.

Ben Askren makes up with wife over Twitter drama

In the clip, we see Askren trying to get some answers out of his wife who clearly seems to be done with him. The couple seemed to be joking around as Askren questioned his wife about his actions and how she felt about them.

He asked, “How offended were you by it?” Amy Askren replied, “So offended.” Askren continued, “Like, on a scale of 1-10?” Mrs. Askren responded, “I can’t show my face anywhere again.”

‘Funky’ further asked, “So how do you feel that most people thought I was calling you ‘not that good looking’ in the original post?”

The wife replied that she could see how people misconstrued his message. He asked if she had any questions about what he was saying. She jokingly responded, “I’d have to beat you up with a stick.”

Another question from the former ONE welterweight champion went, “So how do you feel about all these insecure men and women online who are so worried about ‘oh my god what is Ben’s wife gonna think?‘”

His wife said she thought they were sensitive and thoughtful people. Finally, he complimented her for being the best wife ever and the clip ended shortly after.

If anything, the whole confusion showed the fans, it’s how Askren and his wife are a happy couple. While the fans hilariously assumed Askren tweeted himself into a divorce, both he and his wife had fun with the whole situation.

The pair married in 2010 and have three beautiful kids. Hopefully, Askren will be more careful with his words while complimenting his partner in the future.
