GSP almost fought Khabib Nurmagomedov

Speaking on the matter, ‘Rush’ said, “I thought it was the only fight I would’ve come back for. And I remember up to his last fight when he fought Justin Gaethje… everybody told me, even in his entourage, they said, ‘Be ready. Because he’s gonna call you out.'”
The 41-year-old continued, “So, I thought I am coming out of retirement. I had butterflies, I was like, ‘sh*t’. When I thought I was done, they pull me right back in.”

St-Pierre further revealed that instead of calling him out, how the Dagestani decided to retire. This came off as a shock to everyone, including his team. However, he feels that it’s the best way things could’ve ended for both of them. On different occasions, the Canadian fighter has revealed what halted the fight from materializing.
