Dana White has a lot of reasons to stay grateful to former POTUS Donald Trump. Earliest connections between the two will take you back to 2001 when the real-estate mogul opened up his New Jersey properties to host what was then a struggling MMA promotion. White is a millionaire now. And now, on his way to Italy, his phone just wouldn’t stop buzzing—Donald Trump has been shot!

White took to his Instagram and wrote, “I’m on a plane right now flying to Italy and my phone has been blowing up with text messages from people informing me @realdonaldtrump was shot. I am absolutely SICK to my stomach and in complete shock. I still don’t know how bad it is or if he’s ok.”

On a separate note, White wasn’t yet done. It’s considered quite a rarity when a presidential nominee isn’t introduced by their family member or spouse before the candidate accepts at the GOP presidential nomination. However, daughter Ivanka and wife Melania, who introduced Trump in 2020 and 2016 elections respectively, gave up that chance happily this year. Any idea who steps up for “Trump, the fighter” at the Republican National Convention to be held on July 18? Dana White. Guess, one hand washes the other.

He had posted the now-viral picture of Trump with his fist clenched in the air, and further added, “But @mickmaynard2 just sent me this picture and I’m praying President Trump is 100% healthy. This image perfectly reflects EXACTLY the man I know Donald Trump to be. He is the toughest, most resilient, AMERICAN BAD A** on this planet. I hope the weak coward that shot him gets what he deserves, and I can’t WAIT to stand up on stage with him on Thursday and introduce him at the Republican National Convention and tell the WORLD exactly the character of the friend and man I KNOW!! less”

This comes a month after Trump made an appearance at the UFC 302 event held on June 1 this year. Despite being found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, the 78-year-old was greeted with a standing ovation and roaring applause as he walked down into the arena in New Jersey alongside White. Notably, he is the first former US president to be convicted of a crime.

That being said, the UFC President is not the Republican Presidential nominee’s only well-wisher. Tech mogul Elon Musk has, for the very first time, come forward to support Trump after the attack. The billionaire took to his X handle and added a tweet, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

Additionally, the entire MMA community also came in unison to pray for their former President.

Trump had attended Covington’s last outing at UFC 296 in December 2023. The two are often known to converse on the phone, too. After Covington’s TKO win over Tyler Woodley at UFC Fight Night in 2020, his post-fight appearance on ESPN+ was interrupted by the then-president’s call. “I’m proud of you, man. I’m a big fan, and I’m proud of you. You’re tough, you have the right spirits. So now go win the next one, and keep it for a long time. Just keep that championship for a long time. You are something,” Trump told Covington, while the latter was sporting a ‘MAGA’ hat.

Another prominent Trump supporter in the UFC, Jorge Masvidal, had a few words as well.
