No.1 ranked Sean O’Malley and returning former champion Henry Cejudo are itching to get a shot at Aljamain Sterling‘s UFC bantamweight title. O’Malley shot up the rankings to take the number one spot after his win over Petr Yan at UFC 280. Meanwhile, the former double champion Cejudo announced he was unretiring back in April. While talks are going on about a fight between “Triple C” and “Funkmaster” they have made no concrete announcement yet. This frustrated O’Malley, who wants to fight for the title sooner rather than later.

The “Suga Show” voiced his frustration on Twitter. Within a few hours, the war of words escalated between Cejudo and O’Malley as the pair took digs at each other.
Sean O’Malley and Henry Cejudo go back and forth
In early December, Aljamain Sterling announced on his podcast that Henry Cejudo would be his next title defense. Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz also stated that the fight was happening next, saying it was a done deal. However, the champion later clarified that there was nothing officially signed yet, but this was the fight that both parties wanted.

Sterling also mentioned March as the potential timeline for the fight. However, the lack of activity since these announcements frustrated Sean O’Malley. The 28-year-old tweeted addressing the delay in signing the contracts and asked if either fighter was scared of the other.

O’Malley expressed his intent to fight in July. Therefore, he said, Cejudo and Sterling should “hustle up” and fight in March and not April.
Why is Harry and alja taking so long to sign a contract ? One of them must be scared to fight the other

I wana fight in July at latest, so Aljo and Harry need to fight in March. Not April. Hustle up

“Triple C” did not take kindly to O’Malley’s statements and fired back. He took a cheeky dig at the controversy behind O’Malley’s split decision victory over Petr Yan.
Hey @SugaSeanMMA You should fight Paddy… the judges won’t know who to rob. https://t.co/wNQEewqpeg

O’Malley returned fire asking Cejudo to make him a burrito.
Shut up and make me a burrito

Cejudo once again resorted to using O’Malley‘s UFC 280 win clap back.
I’ll make one for Petr Yan and have the Judges give it to you. https://t.co/324XVVIkxt

Both Cejudo and O’Malley are exciting options for a title fight. Since O’Malley is planning to sit out until July, a fight for the title before that is likely to happen.

Although he was bantering with Cejudo, previously, “Suga” had suggested that Sterling was the one delaying the fight for multiple reasons.

O’Malley thinks Sterling doesn’t want to fight Cejudo
In an episode of his podcast earlier this month, Sean O’Malley responded to the title fight talks between Cejudo and Sterling. He stated it would be such a cringy build-up to the fight that it would be entertaining. He added that Cejudo wanted the fight, but Sterling didn’t.
“‘Aljo’ doesn’t want that fight is what I’m seeing. I don’t know if he doesn’t want that fight because he thinks it’s a tough matchup or if he just doesn’t want that fight because he doesn’t want to get back into fight camp.”
As Cejudo and O’Malley go back and forth, the champion is yet to chime in on the situation.
