Petr Yan posted a picture of himself 7 days before the flight to the USA. With the picture, Yan wrote a long caption in his native language describing the build-up of his fight. The post is a mix of disappointment and determination, as Yan admits to feeling frustrated with his performance but also speaks of his belief in his ability to rebound from this setback.

“It hurts to see what is happening, but what has happened is not to unravel,” Yan wrote. Yan mentioned that he was satisfied with his preparation leading up to the fight, but several factors slowed him down, including a need for physical therapy and issues with cutting weight. He also hinted that he had some problems while taking a flight to the USA, and the move slowed down his prep.

According to Petr Yan, he needs to “reboot” and make some adjustments to his fighting. He wrote “more holidays to come” at the end of his post. This means that the MMA world will most likely see Yan back in the ring after a long break.

He faced Sean O’Malley in October 2022, where he lost another split decision, further highlighting his struggles.
