Although he has been inactive for the last few years, Conor McGregor still has one of the most memorable fighting resumes ever. From predicting his fight finishes to winning the featherweight title in 13 seconds, ‘The Notorious’ has done it all! However, one esteemed landmark that stands apart from the rest is his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.

In 2017, McGregor created history by facing Mayweather in the latter’s 50th professional boxing fight. Although the Irishman lost that bout, he still made more than $100 million of it. Even today, it is considered one of the most memorable events in the fighting world. However, McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh doesn’t keep this fight on the same pedestal!

Recently, Kavanagh was seen in a candid podcast with UFC light heavyweight Johnny Walker. During the course of the podcast, both personalities answered some intriguing questions. At one moment, Walker asked his coach about the latter’s best moment in life.

In response, McGregor’s coach did not have to think a lot before answering. Many fans would have expected McGregor vs. Mayweather to be his favorite moment. However, it was something else. “Professionally speaking, it’s going to be pretty obvious. It’s going to be Madison Square Garden, Conor becoming the first ever simultaneous two-weight world champion. That was amazing. The fight itself is beautiful,” he said.

Apparently, coach Kavanagh feels that his trainee becoming the UFC’s first double champ by defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 was his best professional moment. But there is another phenomenal fight that he puts right up there on the list.

Going ahead into the discussion, Kavanagh also mentioned the rematch between McGregor and Nate Diaz at UFC 202. The Irishman had lost his first bout against the Stockton-born and was hungry for revenge coming into this one. According to Kavanagh, this fight is on top of his list of favorite ones!

“(McGregor vs.) Diaz 2 is one of my favorite fights in terms of preparation for it. It’s just a war and that’s two warriors fighting,” he said. For a long time now, there have been rumors about a third bout between McGregor and Diaz.
