Did Conor McGregor go too far in humiliating Mike Perry, or was it deserved?

If losing to Jake Paul in front of the whole world was not bad enough, Mike Perry has seemingly been fired from the BKFC by Conor McGregor. But ‘The King of Violence’ was not about to let it slide. Perry disputed McGregor’s authority almost immediately, claiming his own minority stake in the BKFC. Now, the former UFC star has taken another shot at his colleague, this time at a more personal level.

Jake Paul battered Perry early on in their clash, scoring three knockdowns before finally finishing him in the sixth round, Conor McGregor, infuriated by the performance, wrote on X, “Hey Mike youre released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You’re fired.” The pair have now taken to adding injuries to their insults since Perry’s latest jibe had to do with the Irishman’s injury.

During the post-fight press conference, Mike Perry was asked about his initial reaction to Conor McGregor firing him from the promotion, the 32-year-old Orlando, Florida native emphasized that it was not possible for ‘Notorious’ to fire him legally, “We’re both part owners of BKFC. He can’t fire me.” As if this was not enough, Perry has called out McGregor for his injury that delayed his match against Michael Chandler, “My pinky toe hurts,” wrote Perry on his socials.

After his thrashing defeat by the hands of Jake Paul, Mike Perry even challenged Conor Mcgregor for a dual to settle the score. The BKFC champion dared ‘Notorious’ to go one-on-one against Paul if he thought that he could do better. Meanwhile, McGregor has asserted that his toe is fully healed and it is just a matter of time before he would be gracing the Octagon again.

But where does this leave Mike Perry?

‘Platinum’ has one of the best records in the BKFC with victories over Julian Lane, Michael “Venom” Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves. Is McGregor looking at Perry as competition?

Before the Jake Paul fight, Mike Perry launched his ‘Dirty Boxing Championship,’ a hybrid fighting promotion. “We foresee Dirty Boxing as a visually-captivating and explosive contest of will between combatants… Opponents will box the sweet science gloved like an MMA fighter with the freedom to throw elbows like a Thai fighter. Plus, if the action hits the ground, fighters can keep striking to finish the fight,” Perry’s press release stated. Did this move rub McGregor the wrong way?

The Irishman was all praise for Perry and his performances before the Paul fight. Was it the lackluster performance alone that set off McGregor? Or did he not take too kindly to BKFC’s most prized asset starting his own promotion just months after McGregor claimed ownership? Similar to McGregor’s sentiments with BKFC, Perry also said he would take the ‘player-manager’ route, fighting in and promoting the ‘Dirty Boxing Championship.’

Mike Perry has been in a fighting career for quite a long time. ‘Platinum’ was 14-8 in his MMA career when he left UFC and became a free agent. A few months after that he joined hands with BKFC and became the face of the promotion by scoring back-to-back victories against top opponents.

Regardless, David Feldman, the head of BKFC, is yet to comment on the fate of Mike Perry. What’s your take on the entire fiasco? State your thoughts in the comments below.
