UFC 310 was supposed to be Belal Muhammad’s first title defense against the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, fate had other plans when the 170lbs kingpin suffered a bone injury and was forced to withdraw from the fight. This opened the door for Ian Garry to step in and face Rakhmonov instead. Despite not being in the fight, Muhammad was eager to watch the action unfold live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately for Garry, the fight ended in a loss against the Kazakh. Following the victory, Rakhmonov invited Muhammad into the cage for a brief interaction. But, in a surprising twist, security didn’t quite recognize Muhammad and stopped him from entering the cage. The entire incident was later recounted by the champ during an interview with The Schmo, where he humorously shared his frustration at being blocked from entering the cage despite being the leader of the welterweight division.

After Shavkat Rakhmonov claimed the victory at UFC 310, he invited Belal Muhammad into the cage to discuss their potential future clash. Muhammad, excited by the opportunity, made his way towards the cage to join the Kazakh but was unexpectedly stopped by security. He later shared the experience with The Schmo, laughing about the confusion, saying, “Yeah, I don’t know they thought I was; they thought I was pulling a Merab like hopping over and going crazy or something like that. I’m like no he called me, bro. If somebody calls me in the cage I’m gonna go in there, right?”
The reference to Merab Dvalishvili was not by accident. The current bantamweight champion has a history of getting into scuffles at UFC events. ‘The Machine’ was in Las Vegas for UFC 310, where he infamously attempted to confront his next opponent Umar Nurmagomedov before security intervened. Moreover, he also caused a stir when he got into a physical altercation with a fan during the event. This wasn’t Dvalishvili’s first altercation, either; he previously jumped a barrier to confront a heckler at the Craig Jones Invitational in Las Vegas.
Muhammad believed the security’s reaction was due to the earlier incident involving Dvalishvili, which may have made them more cautious. Since Dvalishvili had jumped a barrier to confront a fan just hours earlier, security was likely on high alert. They must be assuming another situation might unfold. However, during the commotion, Joe Rogan took the opportunity to step in and address the issue, announcing in the arena, “Security doesn’t know he’s the champ. Let him in,” ensuring Muhammad could enter the cage and join Rakhmonov.

Muhammad, taking the incident in stride, didn’t seem too bothered by the mix-up, but Conor McGregor found it quite amusing. The former two-division champion took to X to share his thoughts, saying, “Look at the state of [Muhammad as a champion]. The security doesn’t know he’s the champ. I am not surprised, motherf*er. He is an a-hole. Shut your mouth. You got yourself into the ring and they don’t even know you are the champion.”
Now, with McGregor’s tweet stirring the pot, it remains to be seen whether Muhammad will respond. What do you think about this hilarious mix-up at UFC 310? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
