The hype train for Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall’s heavyweight title unification bout is gathering a lot of steam! At the UFC Tampa/UFC on ESPN 63 post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White confessed, “I’ll say 100 percent (the fight happens), I think it’s probably the biggest fight in heavyweight history, and it’s a massive fight in the history of the company, too.” But while Jones teases the fans about his retirement and brushes off Aspinall in public, the interim champ isn’t waiting around. He’s issued a fiery warning, making it clear he’s not here to play second fiddle!

In a recent video shared on X by Championship Rounds, Aspinall stated, “2025, Tom Aspinall, Jon Jones unifying the heavyweight belts. One of the first times in recent memory that this has been done. 2 heavyweights with belts fighting each other.” The interim heavyweight champion acknowledged ‘Bones’s recent win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, as he was there at Madison Square Garden to witness the undisputed champion make short work of the Cleveland native.

But the Brit put forth a bold reminder to Jon Jones as he further stated, “Good fight against Stipe. Let’s remember I ain’t Stipe, completely different and, I possess a whole different attribute of skills, aggression, speed, power and everything else to Stipe Miocic.”

For some fans, Tom Aspinall’s confidence in his abilities rubbed them the wrong way as they wanted Jon Jones to “humble” the young heavyweight star. After his win over Stipe Miocic, ‘Bones’ had laid out one particular condition for this fight to materialize. According to the undisputed heavyweight champion, “If I give him the opportunity to fight me, I want to be so compensated, I want that f–k you money, honestly, that’s just what it is.”

“Can’t wait for Jon to humble this clown”

A slip of the tongue from Aspinall didn’t escape the notice of keen viewers who pointed out that it’s really just the undisputed title that’s on the line. And while ‘Bones’ has made it clear that he wants a massive payday for the fight, the British fighter has a different perspective on the situation. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Aspinall confessed, “I don’t really care about money at this point. Obviously, I’ve got a family [and] I want to make as much money as I can. But to me, what’s more important is unifying belts”

“Both belts? Bro there’s only gonna be one belt on the line when it’s all said and done. But I get what he trying to say.”

But even then, there’s no denying the magnitude of this clash in the MMA sphere as pointed out by one fan. While there aren’t any official confirmations yet, at the aforementioned post-fight press conference, Dana White indicated,From Day 1, I’ve been confident that Jon Jones would do that (Aspinall) fight. Even before the fight (with Miocic), I said Jon will do this fight. Jon Jones isn’t afraid to fight anybody, and that’s a fact.”

“If the UFC can get Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall to happen…It will absolutely be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history!”

What do you think?

“Who’s going to be the next to beat Jones after he beats Tom?”
