The MMA community is eagerly waiting for the return of UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Many believe that the two-division champion will be back to fight against the three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler. The two fighters have now finished shooting the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, and the show will premiere on May 30th on ESPN. As per the reports, the two fighters are set to square off at the end of the show.

Following that, many had speculations regarding the fight. Since McGregor’s status with USADA is not yet clear, there is a chance that the fight might get postponed. At the moment, ‘Iron’ seems highly confident about the return of the Irishman. Chandler emphasized that McGregor always wants to stay in the limelight, so no matter what, he will be back in the sport. According to ‘Iron’ McGregor’s appearance at BKFC 41 without the knowledge of the UFC president, Dana White, is yet another publicity stunt.

Michael Chandler talks about Conor McGregor’s “ego”

Chandler was talking with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. During the conversation, Chandler detailed his thoughts on McGregor’s appearance at BKFC 41 and his return to the UFC octagon. Chandler said, Conor, to his core, really is romantic about the sport of mixed martial arts. He really is. He loves it. And I think he’s got an ego the size of Texas. So, he needs to get back in there and continue to feel the rush, feel the crowd acting like he’s a god for those 15 minutes, 25 minutes, whatever it may be.

Staying on the same topic, he continued, “So I think he’s coming back. It sure would be a huge stain on his legacy. Leading everybody down a road. Making people think that he is coming back and then kind of chickening out at the very end and only doing it for the publicity. That to me screams insecurity.

Here, Chandler emphasized how McGregor will continue to be in the sport, as he loves the feeling of being admired by people. McGregor is indeed a game changer, and he has made millions of fans around the world with his outgoing attitude.

The Irishman’s BKFC 41 appearance

While talking in the same interview, Chandler mentioned that McGregor’s fame made him forget that he was a fighter. ‘Iron’ claimed that The Notorious has grown into a huge celebrity over time and that he sometimes forgets to act like a fighter, as his stardom overpowers his passion for fighting.

Talking about McGregor’s appearance at BKFC 41, Chandler said that those acts do not surprise him, as McGregor loves to grab the attention of the crowd. Moreover, during their TUF 31 shoot, the Irish superstar stated that he has no plans of retiring from MMA anytime soon.
