Tattoos have become a popular form of self-expression nowadays. Like numerous other sportspersons, a number of UFC fighters have also given in to the trend of getting inked. While many people acquire them solely to serve their fashion requirements, tattoos on fighters often stand for deeper and unrevealed tales related to their experiences. UFC fighters are a special breed of humans who put themselves through excruciating pain and strenuous training routines in order to make it to the top. As a result, most of them pack some intensely painful stories that they often choose to portray through the carvings on their skin.
The famed former UFC Interim Lightweight champ, Dustin Poirier, also boasts a number of praiseworthy ink-works on his skin. Although most Poirier fans must have noticed a number of them, there are probably very few who can break down the stories behind his tattoos. So let’s dive right in to learn a bit more about Dustin Poirier’s tattoos and their significance.

Reportedly, ‘The Lafayette, Louisiana native’ got his first piece of skin art when he was just 14 years of age. Since then, tattoos have got the better of Poirier. He has ended up in ink parlors multiple times after his initial experience.
As of now, Poirier has a total of 27 tattoos on his entire body. But, most of them might not be individually recognizable to the fans since a number of them are multi-layered and some are even wrapped by other tattoos around them.
Dustin Poirier Arm Tattoos
As most UFC fans might have already noticed, most part of ‘The Diamond’s’ arms are covered with inks. They contain multiple individual pieces of artwork which cumulate together to engross most parts of his arms.
Poirier’s lethal right arm, which has taken the light out of many, also contains multiple pieces of ink works. His right hand displays a tattoo with the lettering of ‘Inspire’. He has mentioned that this one has served as a motivation for him. The inside of his right wrist contains the name of his grandmother, “Glenda” who played a pivotal role in bringing up Poirier. While his mother’s name, “Deann” can be found just a few inches above, on the inside mid-part of his right arm.
On the upper end of his right arm, Poirier has got dove feathers tattooed under a rose with falling petals. He takes this one as a mark of his evolution to a calmer person than he used to be. The inside of his right biceps also displays a Japanese Mask which he decided to pursue as a cover-up to a previous tattoo.
‘El Diamante’ displays his belief in Christianity with a “blood bought, paid in full” tattoo on his left forearm. He also carries the memorable date of his marriage in Romans as a tattoo on the right side of his left palm. While the name of his beloved wife “Jolie” is lettered on the inside of his left wrist.
The upper part of his left arm contains several art pieces containing floral and flame patterns, but the most notable one is the Phoenix. Poirier has also labeled it as his motivation to “overcome things and rise up”.
Dustin Poirier’s chest tattoos
‘The 34-year-old’ also has a few attractive pieces of ink on both sides of his chest. The right side of Poirier’s chest displays a cursive lettering that reads, “Parker Noelle”. It is the name of the fourth immensely valuable female in his life, his daughter.
Poirier has spent almost all of his childhood with his mother and grandmother. As he grew up, life gave him his wife, Jolie, who has been a co-believer in his dreams right from the beginning. Lastly, he was blessed with a daughter after his marriage, fulfilling his world even more. Hence, it’s quite understandable that Poirier has got the names of all these four women tattooed as an homage to their immense contributions, making him what he is today.
The left side of Poirier’s chest is covered with tiger-like stripes, signifying his heart as a tiger. They are also overlapped with a Japanese ‘Bushido code’ meaning ‘way of a warrior’ that has inspired Poirier to bring out the real warrior in himself.
Dustin Poirier Leg Tattoos
Poirier has only got a single tattoo on his legs. It’s a large cross on his right thigh. However, ‘the Louisiana native’ had said that it was a cover-up for one of his earlier ink works. Poirier magnified the size of the cross to cover up the earlier one, which he wasn’t satisfied with.

He has also labeled the previous tattoo on his thigh as one of his “tattoo regrets”. But he was quite contented after getting it covered up with the larger cross, which he said was “cool”.
The Diamond explains the meaning behind every tattoo he has on his body
As we have already detailed earlier, ‘The Louisiana native’ has also broken down the significance behind his inks himself. Poirier appeared in a four-year-old video on the YouTube channel of ‘GQ Sports’. There, he revealed the importance behind his inks himself. Starting from his arms down to the magnified cross on his right thigh. Poirier detailed almost every piece of artwork on his body in the interview.
