UFC Commentator Joe Rogan is a fascinating man with expansive knowledge and exciting life experiences. One of the many things that fascinate people about Rogan is his tattoos. It is unclear as to how many tattoos Joe Rogan might really have and what they might mean. However, there are two tattoos that he has spoken about – and a bonus one, the significance of which no one knows yet. Today, we shall take a dive into the significance and meaning of both the tattoos that Rogan has.

How many tattoos does Joe Rogan have?

The early life of Joe Rogan saw him struggling to make a name for himself. In 1988, Joe Rogan embarked on his journey as a stand-up comedian. He found some level of success there but made a lot of friends who would influence the way his life would turn out in the later days.  Then, in 1994, he signed a contract with Disney and made appearances as an actor in a few television shows.

Rogan has an extremely diverse portfolio that is boast-worthy. His childhood wasn’t exactly the best but he fought against all odds and made a successful career for himself. Rogan even hosted the game show Fear Factor for a number of years.

His journey in the UFC started back in 1997 when he signed on with the promotion as an interviewer and a commentator. This was during the early days of the UFC when the promotion was barely 4 years old. From that, Rogan found success that ultimately helped him translate his knowledge into something more long-lasting and profitable – a hyper-successful podcast show that the entire world listens to and wants to be a part of.

Having seen a lot of ups and downs in life, Rogan found a way to etch his learnings forever. The UFC commentator currently has 2 tattoos on his body that he has talked about and both are of great significance to him. That being said, it doesn’t mean that Rogan might not have other tattoos across his body. However, these two are the ones that he has explained and spoken about. However, there seems to be another tattoo that has been spotted that often, which Rogan hasn’t spoken about. It seems to be a portrait of a clown’s face, the significance of which is yet unknown.

Joe Rogan’s Miyamoto Musashi tattoo on his right arm

Apart from being a successful podcast host and one of the most prominent UFC commentators, Joe Rogan is also a black belt in BJJ. Rogan is an extremely skilled fighter and that has been corroborated by decorated martial artist and Hollywood star Michael Jai White.

White had once said that Rogan’s back-spinning kick is the ‘second-best’ he has ever seen. Therefore, it doesn’t take much to figure out that Joe Rogan is a man who has devoted a great portion of his life to martial arts and still takes an interest in it.

However, if that wasn’t enough, the tattoo that Joe Rogan wears on his right arm will substantiate the point made above. The tattoo on Rogan’s right hand, which nearly extends to his elbow, is of the fabled Japanese samurai, Miyamoto Musashi. According to the story, Musashi was a prolific combatant, having killed about 62 men in one-on-one combat. At the young age of 16, Rogan read a book titled ‘The Book of Five Rings‘ that inspired him to get that tattoo.

In one of his podcast episodes, Rogan explained the meaning behind this tattoo. “My right arm, I have a tattoo of Miyamoto Musashi because I read a quote when I was 16 years old and doing martial arts… I read The Book of Five Rings, and he wrote this book, which is a book on strategy. Miyamoto Musashi was a samurai who killed 62 men in one-on-one combat and wrote this book about it.

Joe Rogan is a man of many shades. While the world might perceive him as a man of many talents, Joe Rogan is all of that and much more. There is a spiritual side to Joe Rogan that not a lot of people are aware of.

The second tattoo that Joe Rogan has is a testimony to that spiritual side of his. Rogan’s left arm bears a tattoo of what seems like a deity and a snake, entwined. The ‘godly’ face that is etched on his left arm has a third eye that is open. Additionally, the snake in the tattoo is seen climbing down the length of the arm. According to sources, the tattoo is that of Lord Shiva, one of the most powerful and glorified deities in Hindu Mythology. However, that is not all.

A chemical compound can be seen in the figure. According to Rogan, the figure represents another dimension that bodies visit when people are asleep and the hormone DMT is secreted in the brain. Rogan further added that the figure in the tattoo is actually his representation of the alien that Joe Rogan got in touch with while he was in the ‘other dimension’.
