Charles Oliveira hails from Brazil and was born in Vicente de Carvalho in Guaruja. Like most UFC fighters, he also had a humble beginning, and his family struggled to make ends meet. Hailing from Brazil, Oliveira’s mother tongue is Portuguese. The former lightweight champion is very fluent in the language and prefers to speak in the same. He also tried his hands at speaking English but it rarely gets him through interviews. It is noted that Charles is extremely fast in Portuguese during his post-fight interviews. Hence, after his interviews, a native Brazilian translator is brought in to translate his sentences from Portuguese to English.
