“How He Fell Out of Contention for the Title Spot”- Fans Have a Field Day as Beneil Dariush Almost Falls Through the Cage Door After Losing Against Charles Oliveira at UFC 289

UFC 289 was an explosive night, riddled with fights that would glue you to your seats. The main event featured Amanda Nunes taking on Irene Aldana and the co-main event saw UFC Lightweight fighter Beneil Dariush taking on Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. Although Oliveira and Dariush both have pleasant personalities outside the ring, the fight was anything but gentle.

A recent video showed Charles Oliveira meeting Beneil Dariush and his daughter, ahead of their then-stipulated match. The fans were really happy to see the mutual respect but what really impressed them was Charles Oliveira keeping aside the camaraderie and securing a thumping victory over Dariush.

Charles Oliveira is a real threat in the lightweight division. Nobody who enters the ring with him leaves the same. A decent human but an electrifying showman and an extremely skilled fighter, Charles Oliveira proved to be too much for Dariush who looked rattled even after Oliveira was done dishing out the punishment. Unfortunately for him, the internet was not done with him.

A video has been circulating that shows Dariush scooting over to press his back against the cage door which, incidentally, was open, causing him to nearly fall. Reddit wasted no time in coming up with riveting theories and funny comments.

“Man they opened the door when he was laying back, that’s almost on the level of pulling the stool from under Chandler” commented one person referencing Michael Chandler falling after a match. Another person commented, “Nah the door was opened before he started his little butt scoot back“.

The internet had a good laugh at his expense as people commented things like, “No worries Jesus got his back“, “It’s a metaphor for how he fell out of contention for the title spot.“, and “9 times out of ten he falls through the cage gate“. 

“It was open but only slightly, I don’t know if my eyes are tricking me but it felt that they opened it more on him“, one person theorized as another pointed out Oliveira’s insane striking by commenting, “All of Oliverias opponents have the exact same facial expression after fighting him.“. Backing that comment up, one fan of Oliveira’s commented, “Nobody seems ready for how hard he apparently hits.“, establishing beyond doubt that Charles Oliveira is a real hard hitter in his division.

UFC 289 – A tremendous loss amidst two memorable fights

UFC 289 was hyped to be one of the biggest sporting events of the year and it surely lived up to its potential. Amanda Nunes beat Irene Aldana and retained her Featherweight title, before announcing her retirement right after the fight and vacating the spot of the champion.

The co-main event was no less as Charles Oliveira brought down a rain of pain for Beneil Dariush and secured an emphatic victory over him by TKO. Dariush looked like he couldn’t make sense of his surroundings as he was seen reaching for the cage door to lean on.

With one feather in his cap, Oliveira is eyeing the Lightweight title once again. However, that means locking horns with the Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev once again. The two have battled it out in the ring before with Makhachev taking the win. That being said, Oliveira is one step closer to his shot at redemption.
