UFC fighter Derrick Lewis will return to the Octagon to take on Sergey Spivak on 5th February 2023. It is a do-or-die situation for ‘The Black Beast’ at UFC Fight Night. However, it seems like Lewis has been preparing well for the fight. He recently stunned MMA fans with his incredible body transformation. Derrick Lewis has found himself in a predicament ahead of his next fight. He has lost his two consecutive heavyweight bouts and has claimed that people haven’t taken him seriously as a fighter. However, things are looking good at the moment for Lewis after his fitness update.

The fitness trainer of ‘The Black Beast’ posted a photo on his Instagram handle that has gone viral on Twitter, in which Derrick Lewis doesn’t appear to look like a heavyweight. Lewis seems to have lost a considerable amount of weight. He showcased a very lean physique to what he used to have.

Derrick Lewis has a UFC record of 26 wins and 10 losses. He is a credible contender given his record of most knockouts in the history of UFC. However, many people have been wondering how Lewis was able to get so lean and what kind of routine he went through.

Derrick Lewis’s weight-loss – statistical details and workout routine

Derrick Lewis is no small man by any means as he stands at 6 foot and 3 inches tall. He used to weigh around 264 pounds as per his last fight. However, he has now transformed himself into a welterweight and weighs around 170 pounds. It is an incredible transformation, to say the least.

Lewis’s workout routine for this transformation included:

  • Mixed Martial Arts:

Martial arts training is always an important aspect for a fighter since it is their domain. Derrick Lewis performs a range of martial arts. These include kickboxingJudoKarate, and Taekwondo.

  • Weight-lifting:

Lifting weights has always been a routine for Derrick Lewis in trying to increase his strength. He mostly engages in compound exercises. His lifting exercises include squatsdeadlifts, and bench presses. ‘The Black Beast’ adopts a more traditional method of training method – legs, push and pull.

Derrick Lewis engaged in a lot of cardiac exercises to lose weight, even though these exercises only help to enhance stamina and improve the cardiovascular system in the body.

  • CrossFit:

CrossFit exercises perhaps have been the most essential tool for ‘The Black Beast’ since these skill-based exercises help an individual to burn plenty of calories. Lewis’s CrossFit routine included rope training and sled push among other exercises. CrossFit makes sure that an athlete stays in shape and helps improve strength, too.

Derrick Lewis weight-Loss diet plan – Is he a vegan?

After Derrick Lewis’s photo of his transformation went viral, many people are wondering about his weight-loss diet plan. People have raised the question of him being a vegan. However, it isn’t the case. ‘The Black Beast’ is not a vegan. His diet includes a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fiber. Lewis regularly consumes rice along with chicken meat to increase his energy capacity.

The 37-year-old fighter also took creatine monohydrate supplements. These supplement drinks help conserve energy as he goes through the process of losing weight. Other foods that Derrick Lewis had during his weight loss include salmon, chicken breasts, fish, and whey protein. This was his daily diet regime.
