Jiri Prochazka will return to action at UFC 295 after nearly a year off, nursing the injury he suffered before his rematch against Glover Teixeira at UFC 282. At the time. Prochazka’s injury made headlines for two reasons – its severity and for it costing fight fans a second installment of what became the Fight of the Year 2022. In fact, the injury was so bad that after that incident, UFC CEO Dana White took the initiative to lend some words of advice to all the fighters on the roster.
Injuries aren’t uncommon in the world of combat sports. They come in all shapes and sizes and can happen to anyone. They can be major ones or minor ones. Unfortunately, Jiri Prochazka suffered a rather serious one. Dana White once mentioned how the doctors described the nature of ‘The Czech Samurai’s injury. Let’s see what he had to say.

Dana White mentioned what the doctors told him during an episode of ‘Chattin’ Pony with Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. He said, “That night when it all went down, and we had our doctor look at him, the doctor literally said, ‘In all the years at the UFC, this is the worst shoulder injury we’ve ever seen.'”
The former light heavyweight champion once explained that he suffered the injury during a training session. He accidentally let his sparring partner take his back and ended up on the receiving end of a suplex, which made him land awkwardly on his shoulder. When the doctors of the UFC tended to Prochazka’s injury, they did not like the condition of his shoulder.
Dana White also mentioned that when Jiri Prochazka popped his shoulder, some members from his gym tried to put it back in. However, they failed miserably and ended up worsening his injury. “It popped out and he [Prochazka] had some guys there at the gym [who tried to get it back in] and destroyed his shoulder,” said White.
To no one’s surprise, White was not impressed with the move from Jiri’s team. In fact, he reiterated the same stance after Charles Oliveira‘s team opted to get his eyebrow injury treated in Brazil without informing the UFC of it first. As for the case of Jiri Prochazka, The UFC CEO later went on to lend some advice to all the other fighters on the UFC roster.
The UFC CEO’s advice for fighters regarding injuries
Dana White did not like the way Jiri Prochazka tried to handle his injury. Hence, he shared words of wisdom with the others, claiming that they should directly approach doctors whenever they feel that something is wrong. White said, “I’ll tell you, I told him [and] tell all the fighters if anything happens to you, jump in the f***ing car and go to the hospital.”

White promised all his fighters to cater to the hospital bills and provide them with all the necessary amenities to get better. He does not want them to take any risks associated with their health. “We will pay for everything. Don’t even risk it. Just go to the hospital,” said Dana White.
Less than a year later, White found himself repeating the same words after the UFC 294 injury fiasco. During a press conference, he said, “They [Oliveira’s camp] didn’t call us. We would have had him go to a plastic surgeon. They would have sewed it from the inside-out, get that thing done the right way. These guys never call us like they should when something happens. They call us after they get it stitched up.”
