Mike Perry’s time is not going so well with all the drama related to Conor McGregor, who is also BKFC’s part-owner, and dramatically “fired” him. On top of that he even lost to Jake Paul which led to the above fiasco. Yet, at a recent BKFC Hollywood event, he was confident enough to call out ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler, who was having a gala time with fights watching from the ringside.
Perry took matchmaking into his own hands and ‘Platinum’ put the ex-UFC welterweight fighter in his crosshairs by calling him out. Perry did this by jumping into the ring, getting on the microphone, and calling Lawler out. Perry vs. Lawler sounds amazing on paper. It’s a bout that the UFC also thought of making, years ago.
The duo were initially booked for UFC 255. However an injury to ‘Ruthless’ caused this high-octane clash to be cancelled. ‘Platinum’ remained on the fight card and clashed against Tim Means with Perry losing to Means via unanimous decision. So naturally, revisiting this matchup where the duo would remove their gloves under BKFC is tantalizing, to say the least.

However, this was a bit problematic according to Brendan Schaub because the main issue was that Perry does not have any proper fighters in MMA right now. He earned around $1.3 million from his 15 UFC fights but, he never felt comfortable in the promotion preferring the boxing style and the ground-pound energy.
Schaub narrated the problem in a YouTube video and said, “It’s very hard to get his (Robbie Lawler) blood boiling. His blood pressure did not go up at all. He is all no. But for Mike Perry, this is the issue of everyone outside UFC. There are just no matchups so think about all the momentum Mike Perry had even the Jake Paul stuff you know as a one-off; and that was boxing but with all these leagues there is like they have all this momentum and then it dies they just don’t have the depth.” He continued, “They don’t have anyone, they had a hope some of these older UFC guys want to fight bare knuckle against Mike Perry who’s born to fighting BKFC.”
It is not a secret that Robbie Lawler, holds a legendary status among the MMA fandom and his fights are synonymous with chaos. He delivered a spectacular KO in 2023 against Niko Price and then decided to close this chapter on a high note. Meanwhile, the Michigan native’s callout of the former UFC welterweight champion is so exciting a prospect that it even changed Conor McGregor‘s mind.

Conor McGregor is on board for Lawler vs. Perry
If ‘The Notorious’ had his way he would like to see ‘Ruthless’ walking into the BKFC arena to face off against ‘Platinum’! He posted on the same on X and said, “What a show! Perry vs Lawler? Gimme.” It might have been a simple sentence but this word from the part owner of BKFC holds weight.
Is this McGregor’s way of calling Perry back to the BKFC world? Even though Perry is successful with his own promotion called Dirty Boxing Championship, he is still eager to go back to bare-knuckle. He had a 5-fight winning streak in BKFC, that crowned him the “King of Violence”, and made him seem unstoppable until July. Then came his bout against Jake Paul. Perry suffered a sixth-round stoppage and critics pounced. McGregor publicly fired him from BKFC as well but Perry’s resolve never wavered.

Now he spoke with The Schmo, and declared, “I’m just ready to get back in there and show the world, after all the bulls*** they were speaking, what I’m capable of in a great matchup [in] one of my preferred weight classes and bare-knuckle.”
BKFC President David Feldman teased Lawler’s potential involvement in the BKFC realm. The idea of Lawler vs Perry is mouthwatering and the latter is eager to return to BKFC soon. Do you think this matchup can materialize in 2025? Will ‘Platinum’ face ‘Ruthless?
