UFC middleweights, Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis promised the fans a war for the main event of UFC 297, and they delivered. The fight, as advertised, was a five-round strategic slugfest between ‘Tarzan’ and ‘Stillknocks’, which ended in the South African being crowned as the new champion of the middleweight division. Despite most fight fans enjoying the fight between the two, there was a fighter who thought otherwise.

Undefeated welterweight prospect, Ian Machado Garry was one person who was not impressed with the fight. This doesn’t come as a surprise, as the welterweight does have a bad history with the former middleweight champion, Sean Strickland. However, fans certainly did not side with the welterweight’s opinion.

The former UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, has had some critical remarks on the relationship between the undefeated welterweight and his wife. This led to the Irishman threatening to take legal action against the 32-year-old middleweight and the pair eventually started a deep feud with each other that most fans are invested in.

Garry, in an interview, also claimed that he wished to fight Sean Strickland in the future. Given all that, it wasn’t really surprising to the Garry take shots at the performance of Strickland and Du Plessis at the main event of UFC 297.

He posted a reaction to the fight on his X (Twitter account). Garry stated, “I feel like I’m watching two amateurs fight… If I ever have a fight like that, please tell me to retire.” The people in the comments, however, slammed Garry for his take on the fight.

The UFC welterweight in an interview with MMAFightingonSBN, had claimed that he was aiming for a fight against Sean Strickland. He also believed that Strickland would lose his title, and unfortunately, the welterweight had predicted correctly on this matter, as he did lose his strap against Dricus Du Plessis.

Garry called Strickland out by saying, “Whether it’s this year or next year, I’d love a fight against Sean Strickland because, any man or any person whoever talks or mentions me, my wife or my family in that way, I’m going to get my hands on them.”
