However, Michael Jai White recently drew attention to the disparity between the image of Tupac and the life he actually lived.

Michael Jai White compares Tupac to Martin Luther King

In an interview with Djvlad, White remarked on the fascinating dichotomy between Tupac‘s perceived lifestyle and the truth behind it. He highlights the fact that Shakur created an image early on in his career that became ingrained in the public consciousness. According to White, that image still influences how people perceive their life and experiences.

Comparing Tupac to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., White emphasizes the consistency between King‘s life and his public persona, whereas Tupac‘s image may not necessarily align with his reality.

“I’m just amazed because of the image versus reality thing. I can’t get away from that because people believe he was the voice of the downtrodden. Which he was, but you kind of have this inference that he lived a certain life that he did not. Well, Martin Luther King lived a certain life and everything was consistent with that. This Man created an image at around 19. That has so pervasively influenced people to believe that this was somebody who struggled.”

Moreover, White specifically mentioned Orlando Anderson, the man suspected of involvement in Shakur‘s murder. He contrasted their stories, noting that the narratives surrounding them are vastly different. White believes that Orlando Anderson, a member of the Southside Crips gang, grew up in the gangster lifestyle. However, he does not feel the same for the legendary rapper.

“If you took an Orlando Anderson and a Tupac story and followed it, that’s not the same story at all. Those are two different people but you know what I mean but the world would believe that Tupac came up like Keefy D (Anderson’s uncle and a renowned gangster from Compton), that’s not the case!”
