Fans of mixed martial arts hail from different walks of life. Even recording artists and pop stars like Drake, who has attended multiple UFC events in the past. Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya claims that Drake’s music helped him resonate with the past incidents in his life.

Israel Adesanya and Drake share a cordial relationship with each other. Drake even bet $1 million on the ‘Last Stylebender’ on his middleweight title defense against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276. Adesanya posted a video on Twitter where he talked to the Canadian pop star about the 1 million dollar bet.

Drake even bet $2 million on Adesanya to replicate his previous success in his fight against Alex Pereira at UFC 281. However, the ’33-year-old lost the bout and his middleweight championship. Adesanya has talked about getting reborn after his second loss in Dana White’s promotion. He added two new tattoos on his face and neck. The former middleweight champion revealed that the Canadian pop star’s music resonated with him while getting his new tattoos.

Israel Adesanya resonates with Drake’s music

Israel Adesanya appeared in a recent video posted by ‘The Kamikaze’ on YouTube. The video documented the process of the former champion’s new tattoos. While getting inked, Izzy opened up about the effect Drake’s music had on him. He said, “A lot of his [Drake’s] albums are like timestamps in my life.”

Israel Adesanya also talked about Drake’s second studio album, ‘Take Care‘, and mentioned that it reminded him of a certain phase in his life. “Like, ‘Take Care’, I remember where I was in my life at that time when I listen to that track or the album,” said Adesanya. He added, “You know, you meet these people who, like, some of them, they have soundtracks [reminding of] your childhood. Then you’re like ‘Oh sh*t!'”

Israel Adesanya has lost 3 out of 3 fights (2 in Glory of Heroes and 1 in the UFC) against the Brazilian Alex Pereira. The loss prevented the New Zealand fighter from challenging UFC legend Anderson Silva’s middleweight title defense record. However, Israel Adesanya has the opportunity to avenge his loss at UFC 287. Pereira will have his first title defense in Miami, Florida on the 9th of April, 2023.
