The former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan put up an amazing show for the fans at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. ‘No Mercy’ won his battle against one of the best bantamweights in the UFC, Cory Sandhagen, for the interim title.
Following his victory over Sandhagen, ‘No Mercy’ appeared in the post-fight press conference. He talked about his victory and next moves in the UFC. At one point during the Q&A session, a reporter asked Yan about his feeling of having his son watch him fight inside the octagon.
To which the 28-year-old replied by saying, “You know I didn’t see my family for two months during the training camp. And they came here for the fight week to support me. Of course, it is a big responsibility. But my family is my biggest motivation.”

While the interim champion was talking, his son entered the frame and photobombed the press conference. Yan’s son adorably walked in front of the table where the presser was taking place.
Yan’s family was present in the Etihad Stadium to support him at the event. And his son Daniil surely enjoyed his time after his father’s victory in the fight. He also gave a hearty moment for the media people.
Both men showed incredible skill in the fight. However, Yan came out victorious via unanimous decision after a five-round, gruesome scrap. It was a big moment for the Russian fighter following his disqualification in his previous title fight against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259.
What Is Next for Petr Yan
After becoming the new interim bantamweight champion, it is obvious that Petr Yan will unify his belt for the bantamweight gold against Aljamain Sterling. However, ‘No Mercy’ seemed disinterested in fighting Sterling.
Both the combatants crossed paths previously for the bantamweight gold strap. However, even after dominating Sterling, Yan lost after he landed an illegal knee. ‘Funk Master’ became the new champion and was scheduled to defend his belt against Yan in a rematch at UFC 267.
