The former undisputed champion Petr Yan recently clinched the interim belt at UFC 267 in an absolute classic against Cory Sandhagen. Yan impressed everyone with his fluid striking on the feet, and many believe that the undisputed strap will find itself on his waist again.

Recently, RT Sport put out a video that showed Petr Yan interacting with future Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier and top contender Islam Makhachev. The clips were taken before and after his fight against Sandhagen on fight week for UFC 267.

Chiefly, Yan can be seen in good spirits throughout as he jokes around with ‘DC’ in the first clip. Yan puts forth a rather accurate depiction of T.J Dillashaw’s fighting stance and his mimicry elicits many laughs from the people in the room. Cormier too has a hard time holding back his laughter, and it’s clear that he finds Yan charismatic.

The other clips show both Cormier and Makhachev congratulate Petr Yan after his win over Sandhagen at UFC 267. Once again, Yan appears to be in a good mood, while still maintaining a sense of stoicism that earned him the nickname ‘No Mercy’.

Petr Yan: Is he the best bantamweight fighter on the roster?

‘No Mercy’ is looked at as the best 135-pounder despite the fact that Aljamain Sterling currently wears the undisputed strap. Yan was seemingly taking control of their fight before he landed the illegal knee that cost him his belt. As it stands, the circumstances under which Sterling won the belt have left most fans doubting his claim for being the very best.

However, if Yan manages to defeat Sterling convincingly in the rematch, it will be impossible to deny his greatness. With names like Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo, and Cory Sandhagen on his resume, Yan is putting together a Hall of Fame-worthy UFC run. In many ways, his unification bout against Aljamain Sterling could permanently shape his legacy going forward.

What do you think? Who makes the claim of being the best bantamweight fighter in the world?
