Conor McGregor is all set to compete against Dustin Poirier at the UFC 264 event. This upcoming fight is highly anticipated as it concludes the epic trilogy between the two fighters. With the event fast approaching, both the fighters have been training extensively.
Recently the UFC uploaded a video titled UFC 264 Countdown: Poirier vs McGregor 3. The video showcases the epic rivalry between the two fighters and how they are preparing for the fight. However UFC fighter Islam Makhachev seems to have found something in the video that he had fun with.
The fighter decided to take a sly dig at ‘Notorious’ by mimicking his cycling routine from the countdown video. Makhachev, who trains with Nurmagomedov and Javier Mendez, improvised his cycling routine to take a dig at ‘Notorious.’

Makhachev is one of the best fighters in the lightweight division. He is No.9 in the UFC lightweight rankings, having last fought in the UFC in March 2021.
McGregor and Makhachev have never been on good terms with one other. The fighters lose no opportunity to take a dig at each other. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Makhachev took a dig at McGregor, just days before one of the biggest fights of his career.
What’s next for Islam Makhachev and Conor McGregor?
Conor McGregor will face ‘The Diamond’ at UFC 264, and what he does after the fight will depend on the fight result. If ‘Notorious’ wins he would love to challenge for the UFC lightweight title once again. However, if McGregor loses many believe that it is time that he permanently retires.

When it comes to Makhachev, the fighter has been in tremendous form winning his last 7 UFC fights. Currently ranked No.9 Makhachev would look to continue this momentum and challenge some top-rated fighters. The fighter is set to face Thiago Moises at UFC on ESPN 26 on July 17.
If Makhachev wins that fight and gets a couple of dominating victories over some top-rated fighters he could soon see himself in the title picture.
