Brendan Schaub was pretty distressed about his friend and former UFC star Shane Carwin and his CTE diagnosis. He shared the same on his podcast and requested around $15 million as a relief fund. However, his old rival Nate Diaz called him out and made a snide remark on X.
Now this remark has got a reply from Schaub but surprisingly another major player has stepped into the feud. This individual commented on something that has made Diaz face repercussions before with the UFC. Campbell McLaren who is CEO of Combate Global has taken a sharp jibe at the Stockton native and has posted on X saying, “Nate is high on attitude and w**d. Low on actual fight viability now. I’m not a fan of his gan* of would-be gangst**.”

For the unversed, both Brendan Schaub and Nate Diaz have been engaging in constant back-and-forth for the past few weeks and their animosity dates back several years. Interestingly, this is not the first time that a member of the Diaz family has been called out for engaging with ‘green gold’.
Nate’s elder brother and UFC legend Nick Diaz had a huge fallout with UFC in 2015 as he took on Anderson Silva at UFC 183. Although he had lost the fight, it was declared a no-contest after both the combatants had tested positive for several PEDs and other substances. The interesting part is Diaz failed his post-fight drug test for mari***na metabolites that were detected in his system.

After Nick Diaz tested positive for marijuana, on September 14, 2015, the Nevada State Athletic Commission handed him an extra harsh suspension notice of 5 years. They even levied a fine of $165,000, which was 33% of the fight purse he had received for the match against ‘The Spider’.

The long suspension had the UFC world in an uproar and the Stockton native let his feelings known to the MMA community in the most ‘Nick Diaz’ style. He spoke to Fox Sports and said, “I wanted to just get up and tell them all like ‘Look, you guys are way the f*** out of line. You guys have been trying to hold me down from day one. ‘That’s pretty much this whole sport has been trying to keep me from where I belong and that’s the number one position.”
This move by NSAC was not taken positively and veteran reporter Ariel Helwani had also commented on this ordeal. He posted on X saying, “Nick Diaz suspended for 5 years for marijuana. Absurd how they got to that. This is a dark day for combat sports.” Luckily after Diaz appealed against such a long suspension, the ban and fine were reduced to 18 months and $100,000 respectively. However, the former Strikeforce Welterweight king returned to the octagon at UFC 266 against Robbie Lawler after being on hiatus for nearly 6 years.

Despite everything, the Diaz brothers especially Nate Diaz remain a strong advocate for ‘w**d’, with the duo among its heaviest users in the UFC. The Diaz brothers are outspoken about their support for it, to the extent that they launched their own CBD company, GAME UP Nutrition, to promote its benefits. “I think w**d is good for you, honestly,“ Nate Diaz told Demetrius Johnson, advocating its use for the general public. “For one, it helps your lungs because they got to be in shape to be smoking w**d all day.”
However, these shenanigans have gotten the Diaz brothers in trouble with the UFC on numerous occasions. Do you agree with McLaren’s verdict? Tell us in the comments below.
