Former RIZIN light-heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka, is the new star of the UFC’s light-heavyweight division. The Czech fighter finished Dominick Reyes last weekend with an insane spinning elbow and claimed his second victory in the UFC in the process. ‘Denisa’ knocked out Volkan Oezdemir in his UFC debut.

Former two-division UFC champion, Daniel Cormier, was more than impressed with Prochazka as he tweeted out his appreciation for the Czech as he fought Reyes. This week at the DC and Helwani show, Cormier further discussed the impact Prochazka has already made and who can potentially cause problems for him.

I think he’s special. He’s an avalanche going downhill and there’s nothing that is going to stop him unless you can knock him out, and I don’t know who can do that outside of maybe the champion Jan Blachowicz,” said Cormier.

Another surging contender of the light-heavyweight division, Aleksandar Rakic, took notice of DC’s comments and proceeded to respond. “Hey @dc_mma I know a guy…” he wrote, expressing his willingness to fight Prochazka.

Cormier also tweeted out his appreciation for Prochazka as the Czech was fighting Reyes last weekend. “This dude Prochazka is like a avalanche going downhill. He just blitzes these dudes. He uses his cardio as a weapon, has a fantastic chin and great finishing instincts. I’m very excited about this dude!” he wrote.

There’s no doubt ‘Denisa’ is a world-beater. His arrival should boost the 205 lbs division of the UFC, as Prochazka has the star power and ever-entertaining style of fighting to put fans in seats.

Is Aleksandar Rakic vs Jiri Prochazka the fight to make next?

‘Rocket’ is currently on a 2-fight winning streak as he has earned back-to-back decisions against Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos since his split decision loss against Oezdemir. He has made himself relevant in the title contention. However, after Prochazka’s win against a former title challenger like Reyes, one might understand that ‘Denisa‘ could be in line for the shot next.

With champion Jan Blachowicz set to defend his belt against Glover Teixeira next, both fighters might need an opponent in the meantime rather than waiting for their shot. So, it makes perfect sense to match the duo up for a blockbuster clash.

Should the UFC book Rakic vs Prochazka? Let us know.
