The UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has a lot of people calling him out for a title shot. After his recent win over Alex Pereira, where he claimed back the Middleweight championship title, people have been wondering who would be slated to face the Stylebender next and whether they would be able to conquer the seemingly impossible challenge that is Adesanya.

UFC Middleweight fighter Marvin Vettori, who has lost to Adesanya twice before, had dreams of facing him once again in the hopes of redemption. However, he had to face Jared Cannonier and get the better of him before he could even be considered for a title shot. Unfortunately, Vettori failed to secure a win over Cannonier and his journey to the title shot came to a halt at the UFC Fight Night.

Fans divided over Marvin Vettori’s bashed-up face post-last fight against Jared Cannonier

The match between Cannonier and Vettori was always supposed to be a gruesome one with both fighters putting their best foot forward in the hopes of a shot at the MW title. However, Jared Cannonier did exactly what he said he would – win.

thefightbubble uploaded a post on their Instagram page which was a collage of two pictures – one before the fight and one after. According to reports, Vettori took 241 shots during the match and still refused to be knocked down. Fans reacted to the post with polarizing comments about the fighter.

Empathizing with the fighter and recognizing the fight he put up, some people commented appreciating his endurance and tough chin. “tough loss for marvin… hope he bounce back stronger than ever” read one comment as another person commented, “Vittori tough, rugged, durable as they come he should definitely take some time before his next fight“. Impressed with his ability to absorb punishment, a fan commented saying, “Tough AF“. Keeping it on the lighter side of things, one person appreciated Marvin Vettori’s durability saying, “If you hit Marvin with a truck, you’re gonna need a new truck.”.

However, not everyone seemed impressed with the beating he took inside the ring. Comments like “Zero head movement and no wrestling.“, and “one of the worst performances I’ve seen from a top level guy in a long time.” rolled in, heavily criticizing the technicalities of Vettori’s fight.

Making fun of the beating that was handed to Vettori, one person commented, “He’s Rocky Balboa without the good endings.🤣” while another commented, “Adesanya said it best human punching bag” reminding everyone of the Middleweight champ’s opinion of Marvin Vettori.

The Title Knot – Who stands where?

Everyone in the Middleweight division is eyeing the belt at this point but Israel Adesanya is a mammoth challenge that the fighters have to overcome in order to obtain that title. Robert Whittaker is all set to face Dricus du Plessis and rumors suggest that the winner of the match might get a title opportunity. Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori are also after the title and with Cannonier’s recent win, he will push for a title shot.

Israel Adesanya has faced all the fighters mentioned above and defeated them – except one. Dricus du Plessis is yet to face the wrath of ‘The Last Stylebender’. With their recent beef about African heritage and the exchange of derogatory comments, Adesanya has set his sights on du Plessis, in case he wins the match against Whittaker.
