Derrick Lewis had made his choice for the UFC 270 main event.

Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane will headline UFC 270 in a massive heavyweight title clash. Ngannou won the UFC 260 by knocking out Stipe Miocic in the second round. However, he hasn’t defended his title even once. Gane, on the other hand, has fought three times in 2021 and is undefeated in his career. He’s 10-0 in his professional MMA career and 7-0 in the UFC. ‘Bon Gamin’ is the current interim UFC heavyweight champion, and he won that by dominating Derrick Lewis.

‘The Black Beast’ during a media scrum in the buildup to his next fight was asked about the heavyweight title fight. He is someone who has fought both Ngannou and Gane. While talking about the fight, he said, “I would like for Gane to win. He seemed like a good dude, seemed like a likable guy outside of fighting. Francis, it is what it is. Always f**k that guy.”

Lewis was also asked why would he want Gane to win. He said, “I believe that he deserves it. I believe also that he’ll be more active in the division. He’s not really cocky and arrogant like that Francis dude is. He’s a real likable guy, I got nothing against Gane.”

The Black Beast‘ was on an incredible five-fight win streak before he met Gane for the interim title. He defeated some of the toughest and biggest names in the division with relative ease. Lewis went into the matchup against ‘Bon Gamin’ with confidence. However, Lewis was systematically broken down by Gane in a one-sided affair.

The number 3 ranked heavyweight is now ready to return to action after 5 months. He will take on Chris Daukaus in a clash between two heavy hitters. Lewis wants to fight for the belt again by the end of next year and this will be the first step towards it. He has made his intention to fight Stipe Miocic next clear. If he can get a couple of impressive wins under his belt, a fight for the belt won’t be that far.
