“He’s Not Khabib” – Islam Makhachev Ranting His “World Flipped Upside Down” After Dana White Rejected His Plans Does Not Sit Well With UFC Fans

Prior to the clash between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev picked out his next probable opponent. He expressed his desire to fight Dariush and claimed to be rooting for the fighter. However, as events transpired, Dariush lost the fight at UFC 289.

Later, when asked about his next bout, Makhachev seemed unsure regarding his next potential opponent. He simply believed that things turned upside down with Oliveira’s victory over ‘Benny’. However, fans are far from believing this is the case and they have now hit Makhachev with a slew of hostile comments.

Fans bash Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov

Previously, the UFC lightweight champion declared that he wanted to fight Dariush. Unfortunately, Dariush lost his recent bout against Oliveira. This disappointed Makhachev. Later in an interview, when he was asked about his next probable opponent, all that came out was his uncertainty. 

Makhachev said, “Dariush lost, everything turned upside down. I can’t say anything for now. If he had beat Oliveira, it would have been a good fight. Dariush’s skills were highly appreciated. It would have been a good fight.”

MMA Junkie recently shared the champion’s words on Facebook. The champion being unsure was apparently the very last thing fans wanted to hear. They not only lashed out at Makhachev for wanting an easy win, but also dragged Khabib Nurmagomedov into the discussion. Fans seemed to think Makhachev was afraid of losing the belt and wanted to retire after easy wins just like his mentor did. Nevertheless, the fans’ desire to watch the rematch between Makhachev and Oliveira was also prominent.

Dana White’s take on Makhachev and Oliveira

Although Makhachev wanted a fight against Dariush, the UFC president, Dana White believed that Oliveira would be a better match for him.

He said, “No, I mean, I am just saying. It’s a thing that makes sense… that fight makes sense and that’s the fight that should happen and I am excited to see it again.”
