Is Joe Rogan's loyalty to Dana White clouding his judgment about Ariel Helwani's journalism?

Dana White just cannot stand famous combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, who is a pioneer when it comes to MMA journalism. However, the same cannot be said when it comes to Joe Rogan, who seems to have no beef whatsoever with the famed journalist. However, he did turn down a chance to have Helwani on his podcast, and now we might have the reason behind it.

Dana White and Joe Rogan are two figures synonymous with the world’s biggest MMA promotion: the UFC. So when the head honcho banned Helwani from attending UFC events for being “too negative,” the longtime UFC commentator hopped on that bandwagon, and the 42-year-old journalist is well aware of that fact, but that hasn’t made him change the way he looked at Rogan.

“Throughout our entire time knowing each other, he has always been kind and complimentary, but given his relationship with Dana [White], he’s not gonna have me on [the JRE podcast],” Ariel Helwani stated on his YouTube channel. Furthermore, he would even share some kind words for Joe Rogan’s podcast and how it has grown to be the multi-million-dollar platform that it is today but still has an issue with the 57-year-old for some of his comments about him after Helwani’s UFC ban.

“I get that. I don’t need to be on it… I routinely say that what he has built is so impressive and admirable, but I just know it,” Ariel Helwani said. The one issue that I’ve had with him… is I did not appreciate the Monday after UFC 199… he told a version of the story that was 1000 percent fabricated and that was potentially damaging to my reputation.”, he further added.

But what did Joe Rogan say about Ariel Helwani that ticked the latter off? Well, there were some comments, which, as mentioned already, Helwani claims to have been made up by the UFC. Guess what? The veteran reporter would lash out at Rogan for it.

Ariel Helwani once slammed Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub for their comments

When Joe Rogan addressed Ariel Helwani’s fallout with the UFC, he claimed to have the best interests of the organization that he works for. So, to do what was best for business, he claimed that it was necessary to part ways with the journalist as they suspected that there was a mole who was giving inside scoops to Helwani, which stems from the time when Helwani broke the news about Brock Lesnar‘s return to UFC 200, which was supposed to be a surprise to the fans by Dana White and Co.

On the other hand, during an interview a few years ago, when Brendan Schaub made an appearance on the Dan LeBatard Show, he claimed that some of his sources claim that working with Ariel Helwani isn’t much fun. However, the famed journalist would slam both Rogan and Schaub on ‘The MMA Hour’ for allegedly spreading lies.

“What Joe Rogan had spewed is 1000% false. What Brendan Schaub has then paraded is 1000% false. Joe Rogan sources Dana White, Brendan sources Joe Rogan… There is no way I would practice that kind of journalism and still be here thirteen years later. If you tell me something in confidence and I report it, I should never be talking to you again. I should be outlawed. I should be banned from covering the sport – any promotion,” Ariel Helwani stated.

There are always two sides of a coin, so it’s hard to point out who’s on the right side of the situation. Let us know what you think about the beef Dana White has with Ariel Helwani in the comments down below.
