Jon Jones has made a grand comeback to UFC. After Jones’ glorious victory against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in August, the MMA world began to consider Jones the greatest of all time. ‘Bones’ came back to the UFC after a hiatus of three long years. Many thought that the ring rust would have affected Bones’ fighting ability. Additionally, he came back to fight in an alien division. However, Jones didn’t take much time to prove otherwise. Within two minutes and four seconds into the first round, the Frenchman tapped out to ‘Bones’.
At the moment, he is looking forward to fighting the former heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. If the American fighter became successful in defeating Miocic, he might not have many challenges left in the division. Due to the same reason, many speculate that Jones might retire after defeating Miocic. On the other hand, fighters like Sergei Pavlovich are waiting to lock horns with him. At the moment, the retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has revealed his thoughts on Jones’ upcoming plans.

Chael Sonnen has always paid close attention to the minute details of the MMA world. The American Gangster has often come up with some surprising facts about the UFC world. However, now Sonnen is shedding some light on the current situation of Jon Jones’ fighting career.
In a video uploaded to Sonnen’s YouTube channel, he said, “Jon Jones not fighting for challenge anymore. He’s not even fighting for championships anymore. He’s fighting for money. You can take the main event out of it. You could take the people out of the ring. You could take the posters out of it. You could take anything out of it you want. You take the titles away, you can. Take anything out of it you want. If you take the money out, he’s not showing up.” According to Sonnen, Jones came back to the promotion for money and that’s the only driving force of the heavyweight champion that compels him to stay in the division.

In the video, Sonnen also explains the reason that changes Jones’ perspective on the sport. He added, “That’s the one reason he’s fighting, and that’s very different and you know what it’s not uncommon. It’s not uncommon that somebody at 21 years old by the time they turn 35 they’ve had a whole bunch of success that somewhere they lost their way or their ways change their goals, their reasons change, their motivation changes I don’t question this.“
Pavlovich (18-1) is now looking forward to fighting Jones for the heavyweight belt. The Russian fighter had a breathtaking knockout victory in the very first round against Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 222. If Bones gets more money, there is a high chance for him to stay longer in the UFC. Do you think that more challenges are waiting for Jones in the new division? Do let us know in the comments below.
