Owing to recent misunderstandings and rumors surrounding the payscale of UFC fighters, UFC CEO Dana White has been facing a lot of heat from the public. Be it the strained relations with former HW champ Francis Ngannou or former bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling‘s allegations against him – White has stood tall against it all and focused on the growth of the promotion.

However, very few people are acquainted with the other side of Dana White – the gentler side that is always helping out those in need. He really takes good care of his fighters and makes donations to legitimate cases and causes. In fact, there was a time when Dana White’s Contender Series fighter Joe Pyfer had all his chips down but the UFC CEO came to his rescue. Let’s find out what happened as legendary UFC official ‘Big’ John McCarthy recalls.

Legendary UFC official ‘Big’ John McCarthy might not be officiating in the UFC anymore but is as involved in the game as ever. He and former UFC fighter Josh Thompson, together run one of the most informative and entertaining YouTube MMA podcasts, called ‘Weighing In.’

In one of the latest episodes of the podcast, McCarthy and Thompson ended up talking about Middleweight fighter Joe Pyfer, who had entered the Dana White Contender Series. However, during that time, the MMA fighter was down on his luck and could barely get by. The UFC CEO apparently helped the fighter out in more ways than one.

This is the funny part with Pyfer and this has nothing to do with the fight itself, but, you know Pyfer is the guy that – you gotta give it up for Dana White“, started McCarthy. The former UFC official then went on to describe the reason behind White helping out Pyfer. “He helped Joe Pyfer out when Pyfer came to the Dana White Contender Series, get – gets the win and Dana finds out he’s living out of his car. He helps him… gives him extra money and sets him up with, you know, a place to live and stuff,” recalled the former UFC official.

Now, Pyfer is talking about… you know, [inaduible] depends on you – how much money I get for, you know, these levels. He’s pulling the Suga Sean, right? And I’m like oh! We’re already there – I love that.“, concluded McCarthy, talking about how the times have changed for Pyfer.
