“It was cool, the man’s tall, skinny – you know, like he’s a tall guy.” Sean Brady didn’t hold back after his face-off with Leon Edwards ahead of UFC Fight Night 255. Does this suggest Brady is underestimating the former welterweight champion? However, it is certainly proof of the #5 ranked contender’s unwavering confidence in his own physicality. Brady’s formidable arsenal of submission techniques, including guillotine and triangle chokes, has proven capable of putting opponents to sleep.

MMA journalist Luke Thomas has described Brady as possessing a “gorilla frame,” thanks to his bulky physique. And to add to the mystique, veteran light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith has expressed concern for Edwards while comparing the American to a famous Marvel character. Speaking on On Paper with Anthony Smith, the veteran fighter talked about the former champ’s fight with Belal Muhammad and then turned to his opponent this coming weekend.

“It’s not always about what you’re capable of doing it’s what you’re most likely to bring to the table. And that’s not always the best version of himself in my opinion. You know, I thought really Belal fought a complete fight. Versus Leon, he was all levels. He was winning the striking exchanges. Belal he’s just on right now. You know it is what it is, but Sean Brady if he shows up at his best. Leon is gonna have a tough time! I have heard horror stories. I have never grappled with him. I’ve never wrestled with him. But people that I have a lot of respect for in terms of wrestling and their grappling ability have nothing good to say about their experiences grappling and wrestling with Sean Brady.

Smith’s comments underscore Brady’s intimidating skill set. He further warned, “They say he’s like the Incredible Hulk and he’s wildly technical, super clean, really fast, never gets tired. They say it’s like being in there with a gorilla-like he’s just so damn strong. If Leon ends up dealing with that problem, I don’t know that he’s gonna deal with it very well.”

Brady, now 32 years old, recently reflected on his growth and resilience after an array of injuries. Moreover, he confidently claims he’s a different fighter altogether — one who feels unstoppable. Brady credits this transformation to one of the toughest moments in his professional career. His first and only loss in 2022 to Belal Muhammad at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.

Reflecting on that night, Brady acknowledged, “I think that was a point in my career where I wasn’t ready for those bigger moments. Even if I had beaten Belal at that point, I would’ve been fighting for a belt or a number one contender spot. And that version of Sean Brady wasn’t prepared for that.”

For Edwards, this version of Brady presents a serious challenge. The looming threat of Brady’s takedowns can prove dangerous for the former welterweight champion. To make matters worse for ‘Rocky,’ recent developments surrounding him have only heightened concerns about his readiness for this encounter.

Leon Edwards clarifies speculation about staph infection before UFC London

Leon Edwards has recently sparked concern among fans after a viral picture showed what appeared to be a staph infection on his right arm near the elbow. While the former welterweight champion quickly reassured everyone that he was fit to compete against Sean Brady, the visible signs of infection left some fans uneasy.

Edwards didn’t shy away from the truth and admitted that he had indeed been diagnosed with a staph infection. However, he emphasized that it was six weeks prior and had been fully treated with antibiotics. “I had it like this about six weeks ago. Took antibiotics for it. It’s gone,” Edwards stated during a recent media day. “No effects cardio-wise or nothing… I was fine.”

Despite his reassurance, fans remain skeptical. Edwards recently lost his title to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304. Adding to the concerns, Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, revealed that Edwards had been dealing with a back injury leading up to that fight and had even considered withdrawing.
