Whereas a larger-sized opponent will definitely possess a general advantage, their tinier opponent’s skill set can often be enough to compromise it.
But, things might turn out to be more in favor of the tinier one when his opponent is a sizable, but untrained individual. One of the famous YouTubers and fitness models of today recently tried to present a contradiction to this narrative on his own podcast. But, his noted UFC veteran guest, Brendan Schaub, debunked his opinion.
The 250 lbs, 6’3″, YouTuber and fitness model, Bradley Martyn, and Schaub talked about how size can often be dominated by skills in a fight. However, Martyn’s saying that he could defeat one of the “tiny” yet greatest MMA athletes in the world, Demetrious Johnson, made him the target of a number of fans.

Bradley Martyn said he could crush Demetrious Johnson
Most UFC fans are already aware of Johnson’s prowess in the promotion with an insane 11 consecutive Flyweight title defenses. Further, Johnson is also currently the biggest name in ONE Championship, where he reigns as the Flyweight World Champion.
Martyn started off things in the clip, stating, “150lbs is like a towel to me”. But, the one with an actual knowledge of fighting, Schaub, gave him a reality check stating, “Now, Demetrious Johnson, who fights at 125lbs, would fu*k you up in a street fight.”

After Martyn’s question about Johnson, Schaub also revealed, “He’s tiny. But he’s black belt in everything when it comes to hand-to-hand combat and everything”. But, Martyn was too confident about his size and weight advantage. He said, “I’m gonna crush his head on the floor. No, really?”
Along with Schaub saying, “No. Demetrious Johnson,” a number of fans also joined him in bashing him when he said, “I don’t know who it is”. Most netizens made a mockery of Martyn’s overconfidence in comments of the Reddit post.
Not a single fan defended Bradley Martyn’s words about Demetrious Johnson
There aren’t many online posts where almost every comment supports the same narrative. But, the comments section of this Reddit post became an exception to it. Although almost everyone chose to deride Martyn, they had their own words for it. A few such comments read:
- I don’t even know who this guy is and I hate that he keeps popping up.
- He doesn’t know who DJ even is… that’s all you need to know about who would win the fight lol
- Probably true
- Who is this guy? I agree with you that he embarrassed himself not knowing who Demetrious is.
- Depends on your size but I’d put my money on DJ or Cejudo against any untrained 250lb man. I’ve seen enough 150lb black belts wreck heavyweights
