Fight fans may not have to wait too long for the UFC to announce Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler. UFC President Dana White confirmed the same during the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference.
White had announced earlier this year that Conor McGregor would return to action against Michael Chandler. His road to return began with a second appearance on The Ultimate Fighter opposite Chandler. Even after filming season 31 of TUF, uncertainty prevailed as Conor McGregor and USADA got into a public stand-off.
However, recent developments confirm that McGregor is ready to jump back into the USADA testing pool. He will have to spend six months in the pool and provide two clean tests to be eligible for competition.

During the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference, Dana White got the inevitable Conor McGregor question. Media personnel asked White to clarify the recent statement made by McGregor. The Irishman had claimed that a fight announcement would happen during the premiere of TUF.
The 53-year-old responded in the affirmative. He further clarified, “He has to get into the USADA pool first. He’s still got paperwork. I don’t know how soon that’ll be done or what’s going on. But that’s his business and he’s handling it with USADA. But it’s all in motion.”
White also said, “Hopefully, we have a big fight in Madison Square Garden in November and then a big fight in December.”

Conor McGregor has been enthusiastic about his return and voices the same in his recent interviews. ‘The Notorious’ has made a full recovery from his broken leg from UFC 264. A win against the #5 ranked lightweight Michael Chandler would throw him right back in the title fight mix.
There are several questions in the air about how McGregor would fare against Chandler. The fact that he has not won inside the octagon since 2020, and is returning from a long injury layoff, does not help his case.
