Khamzat Chimaev is preparing for his fight against Gilbert Burns on the main card of UFC 273. Fans expect it to be a fierce matchup as Chimaev takes his impeccable record up against veteran Burns. The winner of this fight will definitely improve his chances of getting a title shot in the future.
Chimaev is currently undefeated in MMA and has finished all of his opponents. Many favor him to get the better of Burns in this highly anticipated welterweight bout. Recently, UFC middleweight Sean Strickland backed the ‘Borz’ to crush Gilbert Burns because of his reach and belief.

‘Frontkick’ recently interviewed Strickland inside the UFC performance institute in Vegas, where Chimaev is training along with his team. Strickland firmly believes that Chimaev will vanquish Burns as he said, “I think he’s gonna kill him.”
According to the ‘Tarzan’, Chimaev has an endless belief in himself, which helps him get over his opponents inside the Octagon. Strickland added, “The thing that’s good with Khamzat is belief… like this man, he believes in himself to the core. And that takes you a long way.”
The ‘Borz’ has shown his skill and desire in his flawless 10-0-0 record. Moreover, Strickland also favors Chimaev because of his height and reach advantage over his opponent. “I like Gilbert, he’s okay. I mean, he’s not like… he’s going to be too much. He [Khamzat Chimaev] is too big, too much, you know,” he concluded.
Fans are expecting a cut-throat battle between the two elite grapplers who have mastered the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Burns is currently #2 in the welterweight division rankings but is going to face tough competition from the #11 Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 on April 10, 2022.

A title shot for Khamzat Chimaev
With his form, skill, and hunger, it is difficult to write Chimaev off for a title shot in the near future. If he wins over #2 Gilbert Burns, he will establish himself as one of the top brass of the UFC. However, the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is next defending his title against Leon Edwards.
In a recent podcast with former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo, Chimaev shared his thoughts on the same.

Chimaev revealed, “Yeah, he told us. Me and him was in a meeting with Dana [White] a couple of days ago… He said after that fight, people want to see you on the for the title. I said… let’s go. I’m ready for, I think it’s mine next, because in like out 10 fights, 10 finishes and I this guy gonna take his head is over.”
Burns, who is a former title challenger, might be the last obstacle in Chimaev’s path to a UFC belt. A difficult but attainable feat for the Swedish fighter.
