Allstar gym co-owner and teammate of Khamzat Chimaev, Alexander Gustafsson, recently solved the mystery behind Chimaev’s incredible octagon performances. ‘The Mauler’ revealed the grueling training regime the Russian-born Swede goes through every day.

“You know, he works harder than I ever worked. I think, right now, he’s doing 5 sessions a day, at least. This guy doesn’t have anything else than the gym and fighting. That’s what he eats, sleeps, and doing all day long,” Gustafsson told Ariel Helwani at the MMA Hour.

“You know what, in my prime, if I allowed to say that, in my prime, you know, when I fought Jon and those guys, back in the days. I did three sessions a day… I sparred like I did 20 rounds every sparring. I condition like my condition was crazy. But this guy, he outworks me he doesn’t get tired,” Gustafsson continued.

At present, Chimaev is aiming at welterweight #2 Gilbert Burns. Although there were rumors going around about their fight being in the works for UFC 273, nothing has been finalized as of yet.

However, until then, another elite welterweight has all the time in the world to troll Chimaev.

Belal Muhammad takes a jibe at Khamzat Chimaev

UFC’s welterweight division has steadily become one of the most entertaining weight classes in the entire promotion.

While the banter-king Colby Covington sits atop the rankings, there is one more in the division who fills in for the lack of entertainment, i.e. Belal Muhammad.

He trolled Chimaev after Gustafsson’s comments about his grueling training sessions surfaced on the internet. “Training 5 times a day fighting 1 times a year 👀🤔,” Muhammad commented.

The banter between both the fighters started after Belal Muhammad defeated ‘Wonderboy’ at UFC Fight Night 199 in 2021. However, nothing came out of it as Muhammad was slated for a rematch against Vicente Luque.
