In a recent conversation with ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast, UFC president Dana White chastised MMA journalists for showing victim mentality. Particularly, bringing up famous MMA journalist Ariel Helwani’s name.
Ariel Helwani is a prominent MMA journalist who has been involved in the field of Mixed Martial Arts journalism for more than a decade. He has worked with big media houses such as ESPN in the past and currently hosts his own show called MMA Hour at SB Nation.
However, Helwani and Dana White are not on good terms. The duo has engaged in multiple public quarrels regarding fighter pay, rankings, and privacy concerns.

During the conversation, hosts asked the UFC boss what he thinks of Ariel Helwani. To which White replied in a disrespectful manner.
He said, “It’s not that I hate the guy. Well, He’s a victim, the guy’s a victim. I think he’s just one of those F***ing. He’s a p***y. Just a big f***ing crybaby victim. Think about this. And It’s not just him, there’s a few other guys that cover our sport. We have the toughest sport in the world being covered by the biggest p***ies in the world. You know what I mean, it’s just what do you expect? I agree. I am not saying the guy has to be whatever. He’s a victim, he’s a crybaby.”
White also shared an instance from the past involving Helwani, “I got into a beef one day and he went on this tour and was crying on f***ing TV and crying and getting all the other media guys to feel sorry for him… At the end of the day, he’s just not my kind of guy.”
Dana White once banned Helwani from covering UFC
Although it’s pretty clear that Dana White has a dislike for Ariel Helwani. Nothing comes without a history.
Dana White and Ariel Helwani go way back in the MMA scene. Interestingly, White once barred Helwani and his teammates from doing any coverage of the UFC.
The ban came after Helwani leaked two big fights scheduled in the UFC that the President had not yet revealed to the public. Helwani revealed that Brock Lesnar was coming back to UFC, and that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz bout was being set up. Meanwhile, UFC did not like Helwani putting the information in public domain without consulting them.
