‘He’s a Good Teammate’ – Jorge Masvidal Is Helping Dustin Poirier for the Conor McGregor Trilogy

Dustin Poirier is all set to face Conor McGregor at the UFC 264 event. ‘The Diamond’ defeated McGregor in their previous fight at UFC 257, via a 2nd round TKO and would love to repeat that feat. Poirier is training very hard for the fight, and in a recent interview revealed Jorge Masvidal is helping him prepare for the fight.

Masvidal and Poirier are teammates at the American Top Team Gym and ‘Gamebred’ has always supported Poirier in his endeavors. ‘The Diamond’ revealed how even this time Masvidal is there to help him prepare for the fight.

He said, “Jorge is one of the first guys to tell me to move up a weight. Back when I was at 145, you know, at the old gym, before we built this place. He was like, you know, ‘you’re strong, you’re big, you’re going to do well with these guys, stop killing yourself to make 145. But Jorge is a great guy. He’s a good teammate, and he’s been helping me out for this one as well. He’s a good businessman, lot of knowledge.”

In the latest video uploaded by the UFC, we see Poirier talking about his various Instagram uploads. Talking about his picture with ‘Gamebred’ Poirier said that he believes Masvidal is one of the most knowledgeable fighters out there.

Masvidal and McGregor are somewhat similar when it comes to their fighting styles. Both fighters tend to go for the KO and want to end the fight early. Therefore, if Poirier is training with Masvidal, that would certainly help him in his fight against ‘Notorious.’

Poirier defeated McGregor when they last faced each other at the UFC 257 event. ‘The Diamond‘ looked fairly comfortable throughout that fight and ended up winning via a 2nd round KO. Therefore, going into the fight Poirier will be confident of winning the fight.

However, Poirier is not taking anything for granted as even though many believe McGregor is not motivated enough to win. Poirier believes that McGregor is highly motivated and wants to win the fight badly.
