The first UFC pay-per-view of 2022, UFC 270, took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event featured some amazing bouts and also had two title fights. Deiveson Figueiredo beat Brandon Moreno in the co-main event via a controversial unanimous decision in the first title fight. In the second title fight, Francis Ngannou beat Ciryl Gane and left the event with the belt.

All four participants walked away with a six-figure payday from the event. The heavyweight champion had the biggest payday of them all. He walked away with $600,000. His opponent, Ciryl Gane, earned $500,000.

Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo weren’t far behind as well. ‘The Assassin Baby‘ earned $200,000 and the new flyweight champion, Figueiredo, made $150,000.

Francis Ngannou doesn’t feel he has been treated well

Francis Ngannou is still the UFC heavyweight champion. However, this leaves his contract situation in limbo. It is no secret that the UFC and Ngannou have been in a dispute regarding his contract for some time. In the past, he has talked about not fighting any more fights on his current contract. Further, he has even hinted at switching over to boxing.

The issue seems to be bigger than it first appeared. After Ngannou retained his title, it was not White who wrapped the belt around him, but Mick Maynard. It came as a surprise because White was in attendance and presented Figueiredo with his title. The UFC President also skipped the post-fight press conference.

During the press conference, Ngannou talked about the contract issue. He said, “It’s not simply money. Obviously, money is a part of it, but it’s also the terms of the contract that I don’t agree with. I don’t feel like it’s fair.”

“I don’t feel like I have been treated good. It’s unfortunate that I have to be in this position… At the end of the day, we put a lot of work in this job. We take a lot in our body to make it happen, so at least we can have a fair and square deal.”
